Worst funeral home I ever been to. 
They do not have any experience person to help dress and clean the body. I have to address all legal documents, they did not give me any help. The washroom had no lights , couldn't see anything. The place had stinks when you walk in the front door.  They did not have any microphone and speakers to address the family. They did not have a tv monitor for any slide show. Please if you do there you should ask for these things. Or you have yo arrange for these things yourself. You do not have time to worry about this simple things on a sad day like this. The worst part of this experience they only take cash.

THINK TWICE BEFORE USING ORTIZ FUNERAL HOME @ 2121 WESTCHESTER AVE BRONX, NY CUSTOMER SERVICE IS POOR. NOT WORTH IT. We prepaid the funeral expenses for our loved one at Ortiz On Castle Hill in 2015. I picked out prayer cards with Psalm 23 before his wake and they gave me A catholic prayer card. The Director Michelle and Staff do not want to respond to my request for a full refund. They gave me the run around for weeks that they would not have the death certificate for 7-15days after burial. I had to do my own research with the directors on 149th street to find they had his certificate last week and nobody from ORTIZ 2121 westchester ave bronx, ny even knew. There is no communication and the staff is quite rude. Those who know me, know I may not be rich, but have morals and respect for others. I promise you this, they will lose business because the family next chapel were screaming that morning for a refund as well So it's not only me. I know God is by me side during this time and he will provide. If they give me my refund i will post, but again think 2x over using Ortiz at 2121 Westchester Ave because they have made our time of sorrow so much worse. That place needs a full overhaul pronto.

They were thorough and gave us a good package at a decent price. The casket was beautiful and the chapel was good. Only 2 complaints were (1) the deceased name on the sign was misspelt, however we all knew where to go and (2) the hearse driver wasn't helpful or sympathetic. He didn't help us once to move the casket to the car.

The funeral home decor and ambiance is decent. Unfortunately, it was so hot inside! This was the second Ortiz funeral home I've been to in the last month  (the other one is on Broadway in Washington Heights) and it was hot in that one too. They need to crank up the AC or Central air when lots of people come for viewings.
