Gorgeous place to visit. The Red Canyon Lodge has well-appointed log cabins some with lake views. The night sky was astonishing as there is little light pollution. The resort is a short distance from the Red Canyon Rim.

Oh dear. It's really really out of the way, so the only food there is to eat is what they serve. It was abysmal. I thought for sure there'd be fresh trout, but whatever they served was not even rainbow trout, it was flavorless, rubbery and probably had been frozen. Don't go without your own food supplies. Traffic into Dutch John was stopped because of work on the dam - we waited 1/2 hour and then gave up. Alpine cabins clustered so close together, there was no privacy. Windows do not lock. We could hear the loud generator of the restaurant from the cabin. The "lake" is nothing more than a pond - no place to sit near it. Also, if you expect to read at night, bring your own lamp and extension cord. I can't say if was overpriced, but definitely cleverly advertised - extremely desolate place.

The Red Canyon Lodge resort was an excellent place to have a family reunion! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious. The nearby lake was a fun option with paddle boards, paddle boats, canoes, and swimming. I would definitely go again.

Staff is amazing and very accommodating - especially Ben, Benz, Kirsten, & Cary! Horseback wrangler Mike was quite the character too! Awesome views and peaceful atmosphere! This is our 13th year staying, and we've already booked for the next one :)
