Story

Nestled on the waterfront in Irvington, New York, Red Hat on the River is a French-American modern bistro which has been serving satisfied diners for nearly 7 years. There's hardly a seat in the house that does not offer a spectacular view of the beautiful Hudson river. Banquettes and a pewter bar accent the space while the walls of this 100-year old renovated factory building are adorned with WPA-era art evoking a feeling of a turn of the century Parisian bistro.
Evolving from a humble bistro on main street to a bustling 120-seat restaurant on the river, Red Hat's commitment to providing the very best experience for their guests has always remained the same.

Came on a wed night and everything was amazing. Got seated right away, didn't have to wait. The service was great, very attentive and the food came out very promptly. Every thug was very good, the swordfish was cooked perfectly. And the desert key lime pie was fantastic. Overall would recommend to friends and would definitely come back.

I thought this place was just another bistro type bar. I was very wrong. One of the best meals I've had in Westchester county. Good, well trained staff, attentive, food that arrived hot and perfectly cooked, wide range of choices on the menu, this on a busy week end night. A bit too loud, but upstairs was more quiet and you could still see the river.

It was packed on the Saturday night when we went here. Lucky we had reservations. The food was mediocre, friendly staff, good service. Pricey for what you get. It's not Manhattan, but they are priced lije it is. Very pretty setting directly on the Hudson River. If the evening is comfortable, eat outside.

We had a romantic time. Food was "decent" (I had my tuna cooked too much for the lack of sauces/marinade/toppings to be offered) - crab "cake" is just that, no fancy lump meat - the one piece of bread is good, so keep asking for more rounds to = 3 to be quarter full, lol and the Strawberry Sangria is to drink if you're on a date. One glass is a strip tease at home, 2 or more someone's getting laid. Delicious AND effective. Wonderful ambiance for love or first impression.

My wife and I visited your restaurant for dinner last night and were terribly disappointed. The food was fine; the service was terrible. I’ve never felt quite so rushed by a wait staff in recent memory. We ordered drinks (a wine and a cocktail). We were served our drinks and the waiter took our dinner order. We declined an appetizer and ordered two entrees off the menu. Before we had a chance to enjoy more than a sip of our drinks, our entrees arrived. No rolls & butter. Just our meals plopped on the table. I don’t exaggerate when I said the food was served faster than McDonald’s and with just about as much care. Your wait staff should have been taught that service and presentation are just as important as the food they serve. Now, I understand that many patrons complain about service that’s too slow. But I would have liked to have spent a few minutes talking to my wife over drinks before digging into the main course. Was this the waiter’s way of telling us that, if we wanted a relaxing meal, we should have ordered appetizers? It was particularly annoying to see other tables attended by wait staff serving rolls and butter while we were ignored. Maybe the problem was that our waiter was ending a shift and he wanted to squeeze in another sale before he left. Because when were ready to go, he was nowhere to be seen. After a miserable experience, all I wanted to do was to get my check, pay it and leave. We waited an inordinate amount of time while another member of your staff got us the check and we were able to leave.
