Love this place. Been going for years. Today was my first time on the sweet gum trail though and was very disappointed that it was not well marked. (Several crossovers and crossroads that were both bathed red). Love my state parks! Camping, hiking, boating, day trips. Love that our state parks are also dog friendly (just wish more people would pick up after their dogs and there were more "poop bag stations" for those that don't plan ahead). So much more.

This is the place to go and enjoy different outdoor activities, either as a family or with youth groups. I had visited the campgrounds and the park with the youth group I lead several times and it has been a wonderful experience. Red Top Mountain campgrounds are well maintained, they have easy access to hiking trails, its the restrooms are clean and well kept. They have the Americorps team leading some of the activities and classes like Archery. This was our third year attending this class and everybody had a wonderful time. The park is just 50 min away from the Atlanta perimeter, very easy to access any time of the year.

Enjoyable experience. Trails are well maintained. Staff at the welcome center are friendly. Parking is decent. Nice hikes. Not INCREDIBLY scenic, but there are a couple spots that let out near the water and many Cairns. (:

Really lovely park. It's a great place to spend the day fishing, picnicking, or laying around in your hammock. There is a beach for swimming when the season is right. It looks nice but I haven't been there. On the weekends, it's not a very peaceful place and parking is limited. Motorboats and children screaming from the beach (in the summer) ruin all the peace and quiet...but not nearly as much as the several very annoying jet-ski riders. Look elsewhere for a quiet retreat. It's $5 to park for the day. There are bathrooms, they are handicap acceptable.

A beautiful state park with dense wooded forest, having scenic views of forest, lake, island and plateau. Having wonderful walking trails which opens till evenings, a spacious cottages and many camping grounds, small beaches and last but not least boats, jet-ski, kayaking which u will take for parties, fishing and roaming and watching natural beauties. Its totally fun and watching fall colour is awesome ☺️☺️. You could go there and barbecue and have fun. Nature lovers like it. Lake view is awesome
