Amended:
I came back to return my boots, and this time received the expected great service. So good, in fact, that I exchanged my boots for another pair rather than return them, and bought additional items to boot. This store and Red Wing have earned back my respect and patronage, and the owner of this store should be proud of his employees. Maybe just advertise those union boot days in the future so nobody accidentally shows up and overwhelms your staff.

Service didn't live up to the hype. Unknowingly showed up on some day when a thousand dudes from the painter's union came to get free boots, not that there was any signage saying so. Store was severely understaffed. Tried to buy my first pair of Heritage boots, a birthday gift from my wife that I've been waiting literal years for. Had to wait for half an hour to get any service, then another 15 for a follow-up after getting my first pair to try on. There was no special fitting or any of that stuff they advertise. Salesman didn't seem very knowledgeable and kept bringing pairs that were scuffed. Guy at the counter was very gruff when I went to buy my boots and gave off a "you don't belong here" vibe. Weird way to treat a customer who's actually giving you money instead of just trading in a pair of abused workboots for a free new pair. Sorry you were so busy, I've worked retail too. Hopefully you schedule your staff better next time. Will return soon because I need to exchange the boots, because (surprise) they don't fit very well and haven't broken in as expected.

Unhelpful assistant. Shoes are overpriced for what they are. Most aren't made in USA. Heritage boots are OK but quality is inconsistent. Looked at three pairs and two were faulty. Make sure to check them over and try on before buying. Find an assistant who knows the products.

EDIT - 4th November 2017. Made a purchase in store. Store Manager and Sales Person were both knowledgeable and helpful. USA made quality is still a bit iffy.

I purchased a pair of Irish setter boots for the first time and they pushed this paste on me. I am an Ironworker and I deal with hot work all the time. This paste is flameable and can ignite with using a torch or when welding. They are very unprofessional and they have no knowledge when it comes to the Ironworking world and the boots that we need.

Great boots. Store is never crossed and the sales representatives have always been helpful. Plenty of parking.
