Story

Set in the high desert of central Oregon, this Founder's Award-winning KOA enjoys a prime location in the state's recreational wonderland with spectacular views of the Cascade Range, including Mt. Jefferson and Mt. Hood. Lake Billy Chinook-where the Deschutes, Crooked and Metolius rivers converge-and Haystack Reservoir lie less than 15 minutes away and offer every kind of water sport. Hikers, rock climbers and rock hounds are in heaven among national grasslands, national forests and Smith Rock State Park. The campground offers plenty of recreation, too, with a heated outdoor pool, weekend ice cream socials, pancake breakfasts, glo-light parades, banana-bike and pedal-kart rentals, a "pebble puppy" area for kids and a staff that's lots of fun! Check out the off-leash pet playground. Shop the unique campground store for souvenirs, groceries, fishing tackle and video and TV rentals!

It was a packed house for sure. But still a good time. We squeezed in on a Friday due to a cancelation. The staff was inviting and people friendly. They have a clean pool that's 6 foot to 3 foot. A well kept playground, volleyball, horseshoes, even a single Frisbee Golf hole. Plenty of sprinklers for the kids and to keep the grass green. The temperature was in the 90's so this was a little slice of heaven. I will definitely stop here next time I'm traveling through central Oregon.

Pretty great campsite with friendly campers! We had one right on the road next to the cows. There wasn't heavy traffic in the road but once in a while we'd get headlights in our tent. Our corner camp site also had birds and owls in the trees so there's only a small space we could've used where owl pellets, fallen branches, and poop wouldn't be everywhere. Other than that I really enjoyed the cows and horses next door, the ice cream selection, and very clean bathrooms!

Very clean facility, helpful staff. They gave us great advice on local dining. Their store has good prices on things, not jacked up at all. Overall, one of the top 5 RV parks we have been to. A far cry better than ANY KOA I have been to. I stayed at KOA in 1972, and have been a reluctant visitor since. Until now. We will come back.
