About

Remlinger Farms is the place for Family Fun in Carnation, Washington.

Story

It was the summer of 1965 when Gary and Bonnie Remlinger began realizing their dream of opening their own road side produce stand.

When Gary finished college, his father turned over the wholesale corn business to him. With fresh picked corn being brought in from Eastern Washington to sell wholesale, Gary had the idea of also selling corn in gunny sacks for $1.00 per sack to local folks. To his delight, this clever idea brought new customers to the farm from all over the Greater Seattle area.

When Gary's father, Floyd Remlinger, fully retired, Gary took over all aspects of running the family farm. Many a bright and sometimes risky idea has contributed to the growth of Remlinger Farms since then. In the wholesale strawberry business, one year the farm's primary buyer dropped out of the Washington-grown strawberry market in favor of the longer shelf life of the California strawberry. With over 100 acres of ripe strawberries to sell, Gary advertised and opened up a "first and best fruits" U-Pick. Into the fields strawberry lovers came!

By responding to visitor requests for more choices of fruits and vegetables in the fruit stand, the farm began to grow. Pumpkins, the first crop that Gary and Bonnie grew as a newly married couple, have continued to play a major role in farm activities. Now each October, schools from the Northwest Washington area visit the farm for educational weekday tours. Every October weekend the farm holds the northwest's largest Harvest Festival, bringing families from far and wide to join in the family festivities.

What began over 50 years ago as a humble produce stand has grown into a 200 acre tourist center offering a full service restaurant, bakery, ice cream parlor, large picnic areas, U-Pick fields, Birthday Party Packages, fun and educational tours and Country Fair Fun Park. The farm annually hosts more than 200,000 visitors from all over the world. Remlinger Farms is also famous for its pies and other products which are sold commercially in over 200 Northwest grocery stores.

At its heart, Remlinger Farms has not changed its original purpose. It is still a family owned and operated working farm with a produce stand. Gary's love of the land and Bonnie's love of animals sets the stage for everything that goes on at the farm. Gary still plows the fields and harvests the crops while Bonnie watches over the farm's animals and continually produces ideas to educate young children about the history and future of farming.

Daughter Diane and her husband Will are very active in the operation and management of the farm, overseeing the office, restaurant, and corporate picnics. Will has worked 20 years in sales prior to coming to Remlinger Farms, and is enjoying the challenges of Remlinger Farms, not to mention the additional time with his wife and family.

This can be a fun place if you get a Groupon so it is affordable. Younger kids love the amusement park. Don't go here thinking they have good prices of produce for canning.

Fun, fun, fun! Update 10/14/17 This is our second visit to the farm. First one was during the summer for raspberry picking season. We had great time back then. This time we came for the pumpkin patch and it was awesome! I have read some reviews that people think is expensive, but I really want to share my humble opinion about that. Yes, it might seem pricey if you pay $85 bucks at the door for a party of 4 (regardless of age) but once you're in you get to enjoy every ride they have without having to pay any xtra cash. Even pony rides and train ride are included. My three year old had the best time ever here. Now, food of curse is not included in the entrance fee, but if you eat here you won't be disappointed(At the restaurant not inside the park though). We spend about $45 bucks in food and drinks for two adult and two kids. The only thing it kinda made me sad was that they don't include your pumpkin in the entrance fee, but they charge 10c per lb, so it's not that bad. Overall we had a great time and we look forward to come back next year!

This is a fun place to stop. Think of it more as a road side attraction than a farmers market. It has some seasonal produce like pumpkins, squash, and strawberries. Just don't expect great prices. They have lots of jarred fruits and vegetables. You might think that because it is a farm store it is made without corn syrup, but you'd be wrong. Don't get me wrong, I always enjoy going there, I just want you to know what it is. This visit I went specifically for pies. They always have strawberry rhubarb, a favorite of me and my grandson.

This was our first time to go here and what a great place for your family to go to! Fun rides that our little ones enjoyed and our older kids as well! Cool toy/gift shop and awesome apple pie. The downside was that we went just this past Saturday, 9/14, and there was only one outdoor food vendor open which was just outside from purchasing your ticket. Also, there were lots of bees when we were there so be careful if you or your children are allergic (they did have a sign up that said "Caution Bees" on the old fire truck the kids can play on). I heard that it is better to come at the start of the spring and summer because of the farmer's markets and many vendors out and about! The only downside of the trip: It was about 4:15pm and the park was almost going to close when the operator of the small carousel abruptly left and said that he couldn't operate it anymore and that he'd find someone else. No one came and a lot of parents were confused by this especially when he came by again with a co-worker and walked away without saying anything. We all assumed that he was just tired of operating the ride based on his demeanor. The operator of the children's ferris wheel next to this ride came over and saved the day! He eventually was doing double duty on both of these rides so I thanked him for helping us out! Also, there were quite a few workers here that seemed like they did not want to work that day so not sure if they were burnt out or not. All in all, it was a great place and I would highly recommend visiting Remlinger Farms!

Total tourist trap but my husband, my 2 year old, and I love this place! All the fun rides (ride a real pony, drive an old timey car, ride the small train), all the fun food stands (hot cider in winter, waffle on a stick, or caramel apples), plus who doesn't LOVE their homemade pies? OMG. To die for. Their pies are stellar! And in the summer they have lovely U Pick berry patches!
