I had the most horrible experience with Dr. Matos. For starters, on my first appointment, I waited exactly two hours before he saw me.However, that is not the complaint . On my first visit, we discussed that I have an MRI and ultimately a shot for pain relief in my lower back. So, he sent me for the MRI and I went back for my second appointment, which was ridiculously at 7:45 am (although I still had to wait a half hour for him). After going over my MRI for five minutes, he advised that he is a surgeon and does not do the shots. Really? Why didn't you say that in the first place; I would have taken my MRI to a dr. that does do shots. I explained that I was going on a road trip in a couple of days, so he said he would try to get me to see another dr., which he did. After killing almost two hours for that appointment, which was further away from my home, I arrived at that office and was told it would just be a consult Really? What part of getting a shot did Dr. Matos not understand. I stopped back at his office to talk to him, but, of course, I was not allowed to see him. While waiting for his nurse, Dr. Matos appeared in the hallway and would not even acknowledge me. Thank you for nothing Dr. Matos; absolutely horrible way to do business.

very caring, spent lots of time with me and answered all my questions. after surgery, it took some time, but the healing and therapy went very well i read the review of the person saying the doctor was not very caring and i had to write my experience. the staff is nice and every time i had an appointment, i was in a room within a few minutes. i had a fused spine with pins and rods and got my most all my movement back . i highly recomend dr matos

On Friday, April 1st, 2011, I had an appointment with Dr. Ricardo Matos. I was scared and nervous, filled with heavy trepidation. I had battled what I thought was Sciatica pain running down my leg from previous months spanning almost 6-8 months, when it turned out, thanks to Dr. Matos, that I had a blown out L5 disc (disk?) in my lower back. Dr. Matos truly showed what a caring, understanding and sympathetic Dr. stands for with an excellent bedside manner. He took the time to explain to me what was transpiring with my situation, calming me down when I was hysterical after I was informed that I needed to be ambulanced to Holy Cross Hospital to have surgery immediately. I had awakened that morning before my appointment only to discover that I had lost the ability to feel my falculties to relieve myself and was terrified of what this might mean. I had to arrange for my affairs to be in order; however, so this being a Friday afternoon, Dr. Matos understood my need to do this and scheduled me for Monday morning, April 4th, 2011. That being said, he was so very concerned about my health that he went above and beyond the call of duty, stating, "If you can't make it until Monday, I will operate on you over the weekend!" I KNEW at this point it was very serious and thankful that I was being cared for by a concerned orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Matos followed up with me numerous times both in the hospital (Excellent care by the way in Holy Cross Hospital with all of the staff I encountered) and with subsequent visits after the surgery that I am now proud to say I don't have to use a cane or a walker. I may not be disco dancing or running in spiked high heels at my age anymore, but I truly believe Dr. Matos "saved my life"! Unfortunately, with the changes in Healthcare, Dr. Matos is not on my current health insurance, but I STILL recommend him every chance I get to others I know or encounter suffering from neck or back pain.

Dr. Matos is cold and clinical without an ounce of compassion. He actually pressed very hard on the spine causing tremendous pain and didn't even apologize. Find another spine surgeon. This man is not human.
