I took my 9 year old son in to have 2 teeth extracted and since it was the first time he had ever had to be given an injection to numb his mouth and he was fearful of it the staff and dentist was able to accomplish giving him the shots without him ever realizing it. I paid extra so he could have the luxury of laughing gas which helped considerably but they were still extremely kind and gentle with him and made sure he didn't suffer any trauma at the dentist. I will definitely return to River City Dental in Fair Oaks.

I would think twice before using this dental group, they are fairly incompetent, when my wife got new insurance we were issued this dental office, I had a filling fall out and went in there at 7:15 in the morning, it took them 2.5 hours to put in a temporary filling that fell out on my way back to work, I made a new appt. and at the time explained i had 2 insurances, when I got there they told me they were having problems due to the new year and insurance so they would not be able to do anything. so I took time off work two times for this dentist for nothing, I left for a second time in pain, I will not be using them again and will be finding a new dentist for my whole family. very poorly run business, save your time and heartache and find someone else.

My 8 year old son had to get a tooth abstracted. In the past when he had a root canal done at this office they had used Nitrous on him. Dr. Ricardo Velentine who was going to perform the abstraction on the tooth was new to the office but since we had great service in the past we decided to allow him to do the procedure. The dentist started the procedure and gave my son a shot. My son immediately winced and tears started coming down his face. The dentist went to give him another shot and my son moved a little because he was scared. The dentist got irritable with my son and told him he can’t move that is dangerous. The dentist proceeded to leave the room and left my son sitting there for 15 minutes. When the dentist came back he tried one last time to give my son a shot and my son couldn’t handle it. The dentist then said to me that he could not perform the procedure and we need to find a dentist that can tranquilize and sedate my son, like he is some kind of animal. When I got home that night my husband informed me the last dentist had given my son nitrous and he had never gotten a shot like this before. I immediately called the dentist office and was advised by Kathleen Hall that the dentist only offers Nitrous to patience that can’t tolerate the pain. I then suggested that my son is a perfect candidate for the Nitrous. She then told me that it was up to the dentist to make that call and if my husband hadn't ever told me he received this in the past I wouldn’t had known better. I went back in the next day to speak with the manager. Dr Ricardo Velentine was at his computer listening to me tell the manager how dramatized my son was from yesterday’s experience and how he is now scared to walk in to a dentist’s office. During that visit Dr Ricardo Velentine never once apologized or even acknowledged my present. If your child can handle shots then that is great but some children struggle with it. If this is like your child I would not recommend bringing them to River City Dental.

There's a reason these guys have several one star reviews. Here is my experience: In 2014, I had started a new job and had experienced two cracked molars that had become infected. One of them had been filled by a prior dentist, but had cracked again and the previous dentist had informed me it was most likely inviable for a root canal and crown. I TOLD THEM this. The other tooth was viable. Long story short, due to the incompetence of both the dentist and the front office staff I was in for over 11 office visits during my probationary period on my (then) new job. I implored them that I needed to get this done in as few office visits as possible due to be being in my probationary period and suggested an extraction for the tooth that my previous dentist had told me was cracked to the root. Ultimately, it took four visits for THAT tooth alone to determine that it was indeed inviable- one of those visits the endodontist had canceled and I was not notified he had canceled, so I had taken half a day off for nothing! I had to take time off again this time with short notice. He went to work on the tooth and basically told me what I already knew: the tooth was not viable for a crown. Of course my insurance paid these people for the visits. On the other tooth, it repeatedly became reinfected due to many botched pulpal debridements... in which I wasn't given a prescription for pain medication until a week after the fact while I was in complete agony. I was finally given a temporary crown- which broke after a day. I tried to book to get a replacement asap and was told no appointment was available until a week after that. I came in and because there was no temporary crown, the permanent crown did not fit properly. I told the doctor I could not miss any more work because of this! And that I was in my probationary period at my new job and that this has to be fixed NOW. The dentist did some grinding on the crown and it fit. Ultimately I was failed on my probationary period for the missed time. FLASH FORWARD TO TODAY 2017: The crown snapped in two. I had an appointment set for Wednesday March 22nd at 230pm. Knowing how things went the last time, I called to confirm. "We have you for March 23rd at 230pm". If it weren't for this crown being under warranty I'd go somewhere else.

Dr Shah is wonderful and very personable. She explained everything perfectly that was happening and the issues I had with me mouth. She held no judgement and made me want to come back again. The pricing was much better then all the other dentists in the area. Her team was thoughtful and gentle. This is my new dentist.
