An outstanding Pediatrician and a great family doctor. I have been seeing her since I was a baby. Her dedication to making sure her patients are taken care of is outstanding! A personal story about how Dr. Geimer saved my life: When I was 11, I developed a sudden pain in my hip. I saw Dr. Geimer and she did not initially suspect infection but she extensively stressed the importance in monitoring my symptoms like pain. When the pain got unbearable the next day, she gave me a prophylactic ("just in case") Rocephin (Antibiotic) IM injection on Tuesday night. This was repeated on Thursday and that night an MRI was scheduled. The visits to get the Antibiotic injections were taken care of with great urgency - my mother called, and each time we were told to get there within the next half hour, even when the office was minutes from closing. I was too ill to complete the full MRI so Friday morning, she admitted me to Royal Oak Beaumont. After I was admitted to the hospital I became septic and progressed to septic shock. Staphylococcus Aureus was recovered from a blood culture. Antibiotics most efficacious in treating Staph were immediately administered. However, my fever was so high, it was at the lethal limit for several hours. At this point, infectious disease, my family, and even myself thought it was just too late. I attempted to let go and stop fighting but my body wouldn't give up: I managed to avoid death by hours because of the extra time the Rocephin shots bought me. IF IT WASN'T FOR DR. GEIMER'S OUTSTANDING APPLICATION REGARDING ADMINISTRATION OF THE TWO PROPHYLACTIC ROCEPHIN IM SHOTS, I AM CERTAIN I WOULD NOT BE ALIVE TODAY. I'd also like to mention, it was her birthday one of the days before I went into septic shock: she brought me her own full birthday cake... That meant a lot to me. This story is an exemplary demonstration of Dr. Geimer's incredible diligence, compassion and extensive medical knowledge. 9 years later, Dr. Geimer still works closely with all my doctors to coordinate the best care possible. Especially recently, she has offered so much psychological relief by expediting the "Healthcare Maze" and providing prompt and comprehensive responses to all my medical concerns. Dr. Geimer deserves the awards she's received and more.
