I was followed 02/09/2017, about 5:00 p.m., by a black VW all the way from Lagoon to the police station off of Riverdale Rd, with my 10-year-old daughter in the car with me. For 25 minutes the man followed me through every lane change, speed increase, decreasing to 40 mph, and even through 2 "brake checks." I called 9-1-1 three times, waiting for several minutes each time, before my call was answered. I recited the license plate information my daughter gathered, delivering it to the operator. The respondent kept me on the phone until I reached the station, but the assailant made a U-turn when he saw the sign announcing the department at Weber River Dr. He informed me the registration of the plate had expired. That was not a good sign. I knew he would wait for me to come back out. He was enjoying himself far too much to quit now. I believe the first officer to speak to me in the driveway was the Deputy Superintendent. He notified someone over the radio that I was safe and to canvass the area. When a lower-ranking officer arrived, the first jumped into his car and took off in the direction I'd come. My period of feeling secure left with the officer. The remaining officer asked what else I wanted from them. I explained I was almost out of fuel, and asked if he would follow a distance behind me in case the guy was waiting nearby. Then, they could see him and capture him. He agreed, but then excused himself while he walked around his truck to converse with a younger, attractive blond woman for a bit. Several minutes later, my fuel light blinking incessantly now, the black truck backed out. Just as I suspected, he followed directly behind me all the way to the service station at Costco. He approached me with a pen and paper to take notes as I got out of my car and wrote down my info. and returned to his truck. Was he checking ME out? After pumping my fuel, he approached me again to tell me they found the guy. He'd pulled into a music store near the police station and was waiting in his car. He told the officer that he was only going to work. It was a coincidence that his 20 mile route coincided with my own. In addition to riding single in the carpool lane, following EVERY lane change and speed change I made, running a red light, turning at every corner and making a U-turn at the police station to wait the entire time in his vehicle until he was approached, I sense either laziness or stupidity on the department's end. Perhaps it was time for dinner. My daughter has recurring nightmares and lies down in the backseat now when we go anywhere. If I'm alone when I see this car again, I'll make sure she can sleep again. THE END

"Stop a crime, report a fire, save a life." There was a crime in progress at our store. It was a case of fraud and stolen identity. We had confirmed with the real card holder that their information was stolen and they were not aware of the credit card activity. A manager at the store had to call three or four times until they were willing to decide to send an officer. Unfortunately they showed up 5 min late and the fraudster left. Fortunately without the goods. He was successful at one of the other stores, so it would of been nice to have him caught. I would hope that if we call in when a crime is happening that we are able to count on our officers to follow through and stop them rather then trying to fix the problem after the fact.
