Story

The members of Syracuse Police Department operate under the motto of “Setting the P.A.C.E.” The acronym of P.A.C.E. represents our guiding principles of PRIDE, ACCOUNTABILITY, COOPERATION, AND EXCELLENCE.

PRIDE
We will take pride in our department and our community. We will take pride in our appearance. We will take pride in the work we produce. We will take pride in the services we provide.

ACCOUNTABILITY
We will be accountable for our successes and our failures. We will be accountable for the manner in which we use resources provided to us by the tax payers. We will be accountable for being well-trained and able to respond to the law enforcement needs of our community.

COOPERATION
We will seek ways to work with our community, other City departments, and outside agencies to address law enforcement needs and concerns in Syracuse.

EXCELLENCE
Excellence is the goal in all that we do. We may not achieve this goal all the time, but any other goal is unacceptable.

Products

Syracuse Police Department provides fingerprinting services to members of the public.

Fingerprinting services are done on Mondays from 2 PM-4 PM and Fridays from 9 AM to 12 PM (excluding holidays). Our fingerprinting services are performed by volunteers from the Syracuse Lion’s Club; we recommend calling at the start of times outlined above to make sure a volunteer will be available to perform this service. The cost for fingerprints is $10.00 per card for Syracuse residents or those who need fingerprints for employment in Syracuse (proof is required); non-residents pay $15.00 per card.

Syracuse Police Department provides a prescription drug disposal bin in the lobby of the police department. The bin is available Monday – Friday from 8 AM – 5 PM (excluding holidays).

All prescription medication must be secured in a proper prescription container, or in a Ziploc style baggie. Syringes, creams, liquids, vitamins, over the counter medication, and loose pills are NOT accepted in the bin. Syringes must be placed in the Sharps container located above the drug disposal bin.

Records requests can be filed at the police department Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM. A GRAMA request form can also be obtained at syracuseut.com and then emailed to [email protected]. Costs for records requests from Syracuse Police Department can be found in the Syracuse City Consolidate Fee Schedule
