The funeral director was rude, lacked compassion, and was kind of aggressive. My mother was to be cremated, but I wanted a private moment with her beforehand. My mother's body was simply put in a hallway near the door to the garage area. During my brief time with her, I listened to drivers loudly talking outside the door, and they eventually walked in the door where I was standing next to my mother's body. This was a very important time for me,  and the lack of quiet and privacy upset me very much. VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I would definitely not recommend using this place to handle your departed loved one. AVOID.

We made our arrangements for our son Thursday afternoon.  We didn't have his social security number and I was told that they didn't need it immediately because they couldn't do anything without the official death certificate.  Friday morning at 9:00 I got a phone call from them wanting his social security number.  They didn't get the official death certificate until the next Thursday.  We were grieving the death of our 19 year old son and had to deal with them asking me to do something that didn't have to be done then.  I received a phone call from them the following Tuesday that I had been given the death certificate for another person as well.

They were honestly the sweetest and most genuine funeral home ever. They made the grieving process easier and they handled the funeral so beautifully for my grandpa.

These people should should not be allowed to deal with people who are mourning a loved one. They have overtly smug attitudes and their office work is laughable. They messed up the obituary TWICE. We were also told the ashes of our loved one were going to be put in a nice container inside a velvet purple satchel. They were delivered in a cardboard box as the man shook them as he walked toward us. Tactless and disgusting of them to present to a mourning family.

Let me preface this review by saying it is a warning for any perspective employee instead of an evaluation of Roller's services to the public. 

My experience as an employee of roughly a year was a journey of being at the mercy of a corporate entity that masquerades as a "family run" business. In the style of a corporation Roller's attitude towards its employees is that of begrudging tolerance. 

As a perspective employee you need to be aware there is no full-time employment with the exception of licensed funeral directors, or managers. This leaves the position of funeral assistant; a position in which you potentially work anywhere from 24 hours a week up to 40+ with no consistency in scheduling from month to month. The primary responsibility of funeral assistants is to remove the deceased remains of people from institutions, or private residences. This responsibility is divided into two parts. The first part is an 8 am-5pm shift at the funeral home where in addition to removals assistants are expected to preform custodial, janitorial, and errand-running duties. The second part is a night-time "on-call" duty where from 5pm to 8am two assistants are required to conduct removals. The "first-call" is the assistant who goes to hospitals, or nursing homes while the "second-call" only gets contacted if there is a death in a private residence, or a situation where two people are needed. While on-call assistants are guaranteed at least 2 hours of pay even if they are not called out. This being said there is a potential where you could be working all night; the first-call is called every time there is a death, and will go on as many calls as there are in a night.

All this being said a perspective employee will most likely be looking at the part-time funeral assistant position, and it is the experience as an assistant for which I am writing this review. 
Be aware that wages are thin, and if you have to support a household you will likely need another job in addition to this one. However, balancing a schedule will be difficult because they are put together by people at the individual funeral homes with little, or no experience who are frustrated themselves with the process. Also as a part-timer you are entitled to the bare bone benefits like visual, and dental. 

The individual management of the various locations are compassionate people, but have little autonomy, and are often at the mercy of the "E" executive team based at the corporate headquarters in Little Rock. It is the interactions with the executive team that are the most unpleasant, and demeaning situations moreover than taking care of the dead people. The executives look down on their employees without any knowledge of that employee's qualifications, skills, or life experiences or situations. The executives often frequent the most central locations in the state to cast their judgmental eye on the funeral home, and employees. More often than not if there is an issue to be corrected you will be approached like a child in a classroom instead of an adult; this is if you are approached at all because counseling, or warnings are virtually non-existent. 

In summation working for Roller Funeral Homes is tolling, inconsistent work for harsh wages while operating under the unfeeling, and uncaring gaze of corporate boogeymen.
