Not a bad spot for a large family reunion cookout! The 2 pavilions sandwich a nice playground with bouncy turf, bathrooms, lots of parking, and are spaced apart enough to not interfere with someone else's celebration. There is also a walk/bike trail and horse trail. Not much else to do or see at this park but it is advisable to not plan to walk from the entrance...unless you're in excellent physical shape!

This state park contains a well-marked dirt trail for hiking, horseback riding, or mountain biking. The Outer Perimeter Trail is approximately 9 miles of a loop in the wooded forest, with a couple of good hills but mostly bumpy ups and downs. It is not at all rocky. A few places can get muddy, but it does dry out quickly. Parking is not free, it is $4 for out-of-staters and $3 for local residents per visit. There is a public restroom, and also some smaller hikes for bird watching and farming education. It is a quiet park, there aren't too many people visiting, so you may even have the trail to yourself on a weekday. I really like this park for trail running, I come here quite a bit.

Great open space for my dog to run. We were the only ones to be seen.

If you are into mountain biking this is the place to go. 9 miles of trail that is intermediate grade, meaning uphill/downhill, roots, water that is not too tough. Great workout. Make sure to enter from Route 301 and not Rosaryville Road (GPS).
