The Rotary Club of Long Beach with Past President Mark Bixby as the key visionary, took this weed-choked diagonal slice of Red Car Trolley Right of Way and made it a park with play structure and swings for the kids and a planet walk and stainless steel sun dial at one end and a nice covered patio with picnic benches on the other other of the park. The fundraising, design and build-out was done the years Mark Bixby and Randy Gordon were club president. The City of Long Beach Parks, Rec & Marine do the regular maintenance. Long Beach Rotary has a band a volunteers that come by 1 Saturday morning a month to pick up trash and tidy up. The vision was to give a gift of open space to a densely populated part of town. If you look closely by the front gate off PCH in the highway area, you'll see a little remnant of trolley track as a little symbol of what once was there. Help up us keep this park clean, encourage no smoking and keep the facility family friendly and ready for the kids to enjoy.
