Meet Phil, a native Philadelphian, who owns Run Shoe Store and the adjoining gym, The Training Station (follow). Kind and friendly, you would never suspect that Phil Clark (Yale Alumnus; Olympic-caliber athlete) is a scholar in fields including fitness, physiology, and biomechanical engineering.
Phil's extensive fitting technique starts with a conversation about you. Everything and anything -- as it pertains to shoes. You'll discuss your history and goals, medical issues, your current work-out -- or strategies for a future regimen. Common topics are: Injury prevention; rehabilitation; pain relief; comfort issues; fill in the _______..
Then Phil will employ any and all methods to understand your situation. He may take HD-Video of your stride from various angles on a specialized treadmill. Or he might simply watch you walk. Five minutes; an hour. It's never a game of favorites. It's a scientific analysis.
Upon gaining perspective, he'll bring out two or three pairs of shoes, though often predicts the outcome. You're free to test them out however you'd like. Run a mile on the treadmill. Or walk around. And that's it. You're off!
