In February I had a sewer line break causing a pretty terrible backup into my home. This left us without a working sewer, a giant mess, and tons of stress. Did a little digging, got the line scoped and found the issue. Someone connected me with Garrett at Rupp Famiiy Builders who came out to evaluate the conditions, look at the scope video and gave me an estimate. Based on the location of the line and the break I had to replace my driveway as well. Rupp Family Builders did it all turnkey for me! There ended up being 3 break locations and the pipe was really close to a great tree that I didn't want to lose and I just knew I'd end up having to be so much more than my estimate; all while my house was still torn up from the backup.  But Rupp Family Builders honored their estimate, fixed my line, poured a new driveway (it is gorgeous too!) and even installed a cleanout for my line that the original contractor didn't put in. Garrett was AMAZING with me as well keeping me well informed at every step and helped make this very stressful situation so much more tolerable. I found out that they also do interior renovations and will be calling them soon about a bathroom remodel! Professional work and great quality and super nice! Win, win, win!

They do okay work IF you can get them to work. The owner, Garrett, is so full of excuses as to why he cannot get work done on time. It's either a grandma's birthday, a family reunion, the weather, "My dog ate your plans." Besides that, he is unprofessional when addressing clients concerns, to the point of being too familiar. Some times I feel like I am talking to my teenagers when communicating with Garrett. That is IF you can even get him to communicate. It's like a teenager is running this company.

I have a long list of emails from Garrett with excuse after excuse as to why he cannot get my front porch built the way we paid him to build it. It has been nearly a year and the project is still not up to our expectations. We finally had to file a complaint with the Oregon State Contractors Board.

There are a lot of great builders in the Portland area, Rupp Family Builders is not one.

UPDATE: We sent a notice to RUPP that we intended to file a complaint. That was 3 weeks ago. A "professional" company would have immediately contacted us and tried to resolve this. Not Rupp.
