DO NOT GO HERE! Cottages were disgusting. They say they take a deposit to make sure you've sufficiently cleaned your cottage prior to leaving. No deposit was ever asked for and it was clear by the state the previous occupants left it in. The washrooms smelled like sewage, floors weren't washed, beds were poorly made, many light bulbs were out (which also caused a safety concern on the front porch of one of our cottages). There was also no correction to any of these issues throughout the weekend even though a request was put in. My real concern, however, was the disrespect and discrimination we encountered from the people who ran the place, as well as many of the people who rented seasonally. I personally had to witness friends of mine be victim to blatant racism. This is NOT OK. It's 2015. Furthermore, there was no form of apology even attempted from management who were witness, or anyone who also contributed to making my friends and I feel completely uncomfortable for the duration of our stay. Leading me to believe "intoxication" wasn't the reason we were victim to the verbal abuse and threats. In fact, the only treatment we received following the attacks was a threat at 10am that we had to leave ASAP, (and make sure we mop the floors before we go- laughable)... Even though I had a conversation with their "administration" while booking that there was only one cottage that needed to be vacated on Sunday for new renters, and we wouldn't have to rush. Not to mention this attempt at forceful removal included the management yelling at multiple women while they were eating breakfast, that we had to go. To summarize my experience at Rustic Bay Cottages...this is a close knit, seclusive community. With a cult like atmosphere, that's inhabited by bigots. Enter at your own risk, but don't bring your friends. Its embarrassing.

Beware!! Save your money! This place was absolutely disgusting. I rented a 3 bedroom cottage. Cottage #2. As we drove up to the place, it definitely looked rustic. The closer we got the more broken down everything looked. The cottage looked like it was falling apart, at the seams. There was duct tape on the windows, holding the screens, in place. The floors are slanted and there was dirt and filth everywhere. It looked as though the place has never seen a mop, broom or any other cleaning tools and products. There was a dingy looking couch with a huge whole in it, the base of the toilet in the bathroom had black mold, all around it, the mattresses and pillows were filthy and stained, the light fixtures had spider webs all over them. I complained to the caretaker, telling him of the filthy conditons, the garbage left behind from the previous renters and cigarette butts, in the ashtray. "He said, "There!", as he picked up the box of garbage. I said, this is uninhabitable, unsanitary and covered with filth. We can't stay here and I want my money back
