Story

Founded in 1917, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway is an acute-care hospital providing a continuum of healthcare services to help you Get Better and Stay Better.

We offer 24-hour emergency care, a mobile intensive care unit with experienced, certified paramedics, critical care, emergency angioplasty, telemetry, cardiac, stress testing and other cardiac diagnostic testing, plus pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation. We offer a full range of diagnostic services, as well as neurology, surgery, and a pediatric emergency room. We are a state-designated primary stroke center.

We have a wound care center with hyperbaric chambers, a comprehensive diabetes management program and a peripheral neuropathy program.

Our campus includes a 24-bed subacute hospital for patients needing rehabilitation before they return home. It also includes Kindred Hospital New Jersey - Rahway, a 36-bed long-term, acute care hospital for medically complex patients who need intense specialized treatment for an extended period. The hospital is renowned for its rehabilitation services. Physical and aquatic therapy are available in our fitness centers located in Scotch Plains and Carteret.

As a community hospital, we constantly evolve to meet the needs of our community, focusing on the treatment of injury and illness, as well as prevention through our fitness centers and community education programs.
