Sacramento Children’s Museum is designed for ages birth to eight years old to allow children to "learn-by-doing"! Join us during Museum business hours to learn about math, science, art and social learning skills!

The Museum strongly believes that play is an essential part of a child’s “work.” Imaginative, hands-on environments provide children with a gateway for opening up their minds to developing new abilities, building confidence, and making connections between their dreams and their real world experiences.

Good place to let the kids be kids. There is a combination of activities that are either fun or help the kids learn new things. They have an art area, water play area and several other setups. They have a side area fenced off for infants. They have costumes for dress up and other activities.

So this is more of a Children's Activity Center not a museum. Don't expect any exhibits but plenty of things for your child to do. There are multiple areas with different themes - a water room, a stage, a craft room, a play area and one large room with a few "sciencey" things. Easy for a kid to stay busy for a couple of hours (which is good since you're paying $9 per person to get in, except Friday which is $5.)

Big downside - lots of parents don't supervise their kids. They've found a chair or wall and are on their phone while the kid runs wild. Bigger kids try to boss smaller kids or horde all of the interesting toys and there isn't enough staff to help manage it. So you need to be proactive with your kids to make sure they don't get steamrolled by other kids.

It was fun. But they only had 2 staff members working, none of which were supervising the floor. Yes I know parents are SUPPOSED to watch their children but they don't. And the ones that do have more than one child so it's hard. So I think a little extra guidance from staff would be helpful. Furthermore, there were children clearly older than 3 in the designated "under 3 years old" area, who were way too rough to play with my 17 month old. So he didn't get the experience he should have & that we paid $25 for.

It had a lot of activites for my childre. Even my 11 year old dauther loved it!

It's cool for kids under 5, older kids will be bored. The place is tiny, wish they had more activities.
