This Safeway has gone way downhill since Dave the manager left to go to the other Safeway. The other day there was absolutely no hand baskets available I found one in the entire store and when I asked about it the cashier Shrugged and said people steal them... They just hung up these signs that says Three's a Crowd will call more cashiers up if they're more than 3 online and yet every time I go in there there's three or four people in line and no extra cashiers rushing to the front. Terrible. The remaining people who are working there are working hard and they're very nice and do their best to give customer service but this store is severely understaffed and the scheduling is all screwed up because they don't have the people there when they need them. Most of the bagging Clerks are either inefficient or don't seem to care as the last two visits I've had stuff left behind that didn't get bagged. The only courtesy clerk that does a great job is Courtney. Always a smile and she knows how to bag your groceries so they don't get squished by the time you get home. Also there's never enough courtesy clicks I usually end up begging my own groceries... I was there this morning trying to get in and out before football started and forget about that, did not happen with the lines. Again the cashier they called up apologize for the wait but why is the labor so tight that they don't have enough cashiers or courtesy clerks to take care of the people in the store. Clearly a management issue not an employee issue. The people that are trying really hard but they're always understaffed. I was an employer there I probably quit... Please fix this issue and staff the freaking store and then schedule it for peak times correctly.

Only 2 checkers on duty, at around 8:30pm. Long line, big banner saying they add more checkers when 3 people are in line. (They don't.) Overworked checker was great, however!

Inadequate staffing. People were coming back from one of the busiest weeks of the year. It was all over the news. Abandoned carts everywhere in the store.

Learning that all safeways are 24 hrs. This is very convenient when you need to purchased things you need. Very clean place to shop. Produce is decent and flowers are good. Employees are always helpful and fun.

I want too happy to see that they didn't have a 15 items or less check out other than the self check out.... Which does not work with alcohol. They only had 3 open checkers, and the lines were long! Each person in front of me had PILES of groceries in their baskets. They're TOO pricey at Safeway to continue this practice of having so little checkers open. However, the 4 stars was for the lady at the self check-out that agreed to ring me up because I had less than 15 items, but I had to put back my oranges because she didn't have a scale... Which I was totally ok with because I had some melons that were flat rate priced. Safeway looses a star for being chronically understaffed. It's not just this Safeway, but ALL Safeways in the East Bay. Moraga, CA BY FAR, hands down is the worst I've EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. Every single day ESPECIALLY Saturdays and Sundays, you have to plan to stand in a line that goes ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK OF THE STORE, at minimum 1 1/2 hours in line. It takes team work to check out there. 1 person to hold your place in line, and then the rest of your family to run around with carts (yes plural carts) to grab everything on the list, and even then you have to wait a good hour in line to buy groceries. Safeway generally disgusts me. I prefer Target or Grocery Outlet in pleasant Hill. I recommend go to anywhere else than Safeway. Too expensive and the lines are OBSCENE. But the one checker saved this review for her generous kindness to allow me to bypass the regular lines and she rang me up. The receipt shows her name was Rebecca the store number was 1541 and the time was 13:27. She alone saved this review. Store manager Eduardo Morales..... She needs to be recognized for her kindness AND sweet/happy disposition!!
