Ordered chicken tikka biryani for 18$, and it was too bland and no taste . It’s like eating plain rice with little masala in it. And the chicken pieces were cut into chunks as if it’s a fried rice and they were too bland. The rice they used is a mix of basmati and normal rice, which is not normal for a biryani. Please remove the name authentic Indian from your restaurant’s name if you can’t deliver authentic food. There’s a second edit . There is a whole piece of tamarind in the rice and it’s disgusting and I threw everything away. I don’t know how they were ok with this
I think this changed chefs. The food is passable as Indian food, but it lacks heart and taste. The samosa had the thickest skin, chewy and tasteless filling, the papadums were cold and we were the only table in the establishment, they had no silverware when dining indoors, the server looked annoyed with us, and I served the table. The lam roganjosh was spicy but thrown together, the tandoori platter seemed to have been heated up not freshly cooked. It is sad that a restaurant that had great service and splendid food has become this. There are better Indian places.
Great tasty Indian food! Didn't realize there was this great place so close to the Navy Yard. My friend and I both had the combo meals which came with Samosa, entree, naan, rice, and a drink. I had the lamb saag and he had the chicken masala. We were able to customize the spice on each and it tasted great! I don't eat Indian food that much but from someone that doesn't eat it that often, this was a great place for lunch. Overall, if you are craving Indian food near Navy Yard this is the place to go and grab lunch. Worth the short trip.
Amazing experience. They had given salad and on top of that option to switch rice with butter naan for the curry which was like am I in India right now? The goat vinadaloo was amazing. Perfect spices and hot. The chicken butter masala was bland but then we asked for mild. I think the flavor was not coming properly. The paneer makhni was also on sweeter side even though we asked for spicy. But they do have something called garlic chili naan, which was a treat. Too much chilies, order on your own risk lol! The regular garlic naan were great too. I enjoyed the presentation of the place and serving. It felt like having the treat in India. The mango lassi was on seeeter side, the sweet one was not so much but freshly made. Overall a good add to neighborhood and Philadelphia India scene, I think if you order according to taste you won’t go wrong.
The place didn’t even look open when I came to pickup my food. I was hoping for more. The samosa had broke the seal and literally burned my tongue with hot oil. :-. The chicken tika was ok but not memorable, def overcooked.Food: 3/5
Tried Saffron based off the reviews and we were not disappointed. Samples the meat appetizer, lamb pasanda cream almond sauce and shrimp tikka masala and naan. We were not disappointed and actually have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Meal total was $50 before tip. Highly recommend trying this Indian restaurant!
I love ordering from Saffron Patch - always get the chicken tikka masala and palak paneer and it never disappoints. I have had worse Indian food before, Saffron Patch is the best in the area! Vegetarian options: Large number of vegetarian options like chana masala or paneer
Great place. Great food. I have tried a couple Indian restaurants in center city and they aren't nearly as good as this place. My go to.Food: 5/5
It’s a very casual dining setup but comfortable. Had the garlic naan although I ordered the rosemary, veggie samosas and chicken biryani. The samosas were a bit thick… had little taste. The naan and chicken biryani were divine I’ll come back for those items. The gentleman server was kind and efficient. Parking might be a challenge depending on time of day. Not pricey.
Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. They do flavors like nobody else. I just wish they would lower the lighting in there to make it more atmospheric. You could do open heart surgery in there ha ha.Food: 5/5
