I was flying in to Hays, but a storm diverted the flight to Salina airport. We landed late and I had a very early meeting the following morning. The folks over here were very accommodating. They got hotel rooms for those willing to wait until the morning then they got a cab to drive the rest of us to Hays arriving at 1:30am. Admittedly, I may have been a bit of a jerk having been so freaked out about missing my meeting. These people took my attitude in stride with a smile. I may have been a little low on energy the next morning, but that was mother nature's fault. I made it to my meeting, which was due to the accommodating people at Salina Regional Airport.

TSA right here! Salina municipal is such a small airport, but having all the security to go through here in town makes traveling worlds easier! Super fast lines, professional staff, and once you are in, you're in. You can get from here in your own town to anywhere. Plus parking is free! They even have rental cars if you are coming in from somewhere else.

Free parking and service to a united hub near manhattan ks are the nice things about this place. TSA seemed like a group of clowns barely able to understand how to use their equipment. They might as well throw away the X-ray machine because they had to open almost every bag. Out of 11 people boarding the plane, they had to conduct full body pat down searches on two of us, including myself and a 70+ man who couldn't walk without his cane. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to pass 11 people through security.

Good airport, VERY small. TSA wasn't rude which is a plus over other airports. they have food and drink but the selection is pretty limited. Not much security by luggage claim so be sure to keep a careful eye out for your bags. Also be warned that once you pass TSA the plugs don't work, I would advocate for bringing a charging case or something if you need to plug in your phone.

For the record we have listed employees names that we were aware of and dates because we would like this issue addressed by the airline. There is also a video of how she treated people inside the airport that multiple people have on their cell phones and there were multiple people who got each other's full names and phone numbers for their personal records and to contact each other. Retha Wittlake, Salina Station Manager for Great Lakes Airlines for the Salina, Kansas Airport is the rudest airport employee I have ever encountered. I have flown multiple times through Wichita, Kansas City, Nashville, Orlando, etc with no issues ever. I witnessed Retha be rude to multiple customers on May 1st, 2017. There were multiple people who went and asked her personally for her name and her business card. Afterwards Retha tracked down customer(s) before their flight took off and hassled them about their families complaints then came out and confronted us about it in an inappropriate manner. We do have a video of exactly what took place. In addition Retha gave customers licenses back to the wrong people. In additon to Retha's attitude there were other employees talking about having to give customers dirty looks for trying to go through the wrong entrance. Salina airport needs more signs to help customers navigate the airport as well as more understanding, friendlier staff. I would highly recommend never flying this airport. I completely understand there are regulations and strict guidelines especially in airport and rules to be followed. But, that is no excuse for employees to treat customers like this. Customers deserve to always be treated with respect and have issues sorted out in an appropriate, educational way.
