Story

Provided programs and services include:

Direct Assistance/Case Management—We offer food, clothing, furniture, and household items based on need as supplies are available; financial assistance with utilities, rent and prescriptions; referrals to other area agencies that serve specialized needs; and advocation for client needs with other agencies and organizations.

Gifts for Jesus—New toys, household items, clothing, and personal care products donated by area individuals, groups, and churches throughout the year are kept ready to assist clients.

Health Emphasis—Health screenings, events, and information fairs offer practical health information.

Stock Their Lockers—New backpacks, pencils, paper, crayons, glue sticks, and other school supplies necessities are donated to the Center. We then distribute them to families who request help or who are referred by area teachers so that those kids don't have to start the school year with a disadvantage. Kids get to pick out their own supplies.

Community Involvement—A network of partnerships with area charities, churches, and individuals helps the Center function as a safety net for people in crisis in this area.

Disaster Response—During times of national disasters, the Samaritan Center serves as a collection point for funds and donated goods when requested by Adventist Community Services. The Center works closely with the disaster response coordinator of the Georgia-Cumberland Conference in responding to disasters both in our local area and nationally as needed.

Thrift Shops—Clothing, furniture and household items are made available at low prices to those on tight budgets. Clients who need assistance with these items "shop" with gift certificates given to them by case workers after an evaluation process. In this way, their dignity is preserved, and they retain the ability to make choices about their situation.

Volunteer Opportunities—Opportunities exist for volunteers to work in all aspects of the Center's mission. Get involved today!

The Samaritan Center's mission is to meet the basic physical, spiritual, and social needs of people in our area, using the ministry of Jesus as our model.

I haven't been in this store in a long time. They have remodeled. Everything is cleaner, newer and easier to navigate. And the prices are still great. Definitely going back when I have more time.

The Samaritan Center is an amazing place you can find things that you weren't thinking you would need and find them at a price that you just can't pass up and it's good knowing that everything you spend there the money goes to help people I always come away with something I wasn't looking for that I can use and something that just surprises me at the great deal I was able to pick up

My boyfriend and I frequently donate/shop here and we love it! Always find something and the prices are insanely low. My only real complaint is the customers. More often than not there are a lot of invasive/pushy/rude people there and it's unnecessary. The staff is always extremely polite and they're usually pretty busy. We have gone when they opened once and there was a line outside the door on a regular weekday. If you can handle the crowd and have a good eye (it is a bit cluttered) then you'll have no problem snagging what you want and love here :)

It would be nice if you were donating good re-saleable items (some with tags never used nor worn) that someone would not "sling" your items. Not a smile nor a word of any kind. This was the same on a time before, thinking this person was just having a bad day, we all do! I will donate and shop another place.

if you go, make sure it is the clearance/discount side. clothes are $0.75 cents each. many, many bargains, better than habitat and goodwill. prices are better too.
