I believe it's been a little over a year since this happened, I was too afraid to write this review for fear of police retaliation. I came to this department to see if there was any action I could take against my mother after uncovering a memory of her sexually assaulting me when I was 14. This was a very traumatic thing for me to pursue because of the fear that no one would believe me or understand. Anyways I'm a very thin woman so I always keep a small pocket knife and mace with me just in case, especially downtown. But, I'd never been to a police department before so I wasn't aware that I couldn't bring my knife in. In a bemused tone the guard told me I couldn't bring my knife past the front desk. Yet I walked in with it and had been sitting with it for an hour up until then and that was fine. Now suddenly it's not. I asked if I could just leave it at the front desk with the guard until my interview with the detective was done. He said no but I could put it in the garbage or take it back to my car. My friend had drove me there and was already gone so all I could do was throw it in the trash. That was my first and favorite knife, it's protected me and always been there, and I've been heartbroken ever since. I begged if there was anything else I could do, he said no. When I threw it away and heard it thunk at the bottom of that garbage bin I just wanted to die. He smirked at me as I went through the detector or whatever it was, as if he thought it was funny. I'm guessing that my knife (along with any other "collected" goods from other desperate civilians) was taken home by that officer/guard or was pooled together and auctioned off by the department. The detective took me to a room and asked me a few questions in a very cold, almost disgusted tone. I will never forget when she looked me directly in my eyes, as I sat there crying while recounting the assault, and she said "Well in all the years I've worked I've never heard of a mother doing this to her daughter so there's nothing I can do". If you refuse to acknowledge that horrific tragedies are a constant in this life because it makes you too uncomfortable then you have no business being a detective. I understand that it was years ago so there's obviously no longer any evidence of the assault, etc. but to say that to a survivor of child molestation at the hands of ones own mother is one of the most inhuman things I think a person can do. I came here in a very terrifying, traumatizing, and difficult time in my life just asking for help or options and I was treated worse than a dog. I am not particularly religious but I cannot help but feel there is going to be a very severe punishment waiting for every person in power that perpetuates this abuse of the people of San Antonio. Regardless of the department, regardless of what you think you are you are civil servants first and foremost and there is a blatantly appalling lack of professionalism and just basic humanity in the SAPD. These are not people running this department. These are monsters.

Just wanted to thank San Antonio police bike officer and the parks officer who responded to 911 call about the armed guy in the downtown hotel where we were staying a couple days ago. They were really fast getting the situation under control preventing another mass shooting.

Note to Officer M. Leal, Badge #961... Call flooding is NOT A CRIME! It is SEEKING REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES FROM GOVERNMENT, a protected First Amendment Right! Drop the charges against the YouTube channel mexican padilla NOW, or face a 500 TRILLION dollar Lawsuit under 42 USC Section 1983!

To whom.it may concern . I came to the department to speak to someone in the missing persons department and I get someone totally else. I get a detective Reyes. To talk about the Amalia garza case . To tell him that I have seen posters about her around where I live then all of a sudden there torn down. I told him the city should zoom in on the cameras on the plates to see who is going out of their way to take down the missing posters . By Callaghan and culebra. Officer seemed like he didn't take . Seemed like a joke .

A little better than Olmos Park but still a bunch of jackasses. If your not a bootlicker neither city is good for you. Get San Antonio more GOOD police to help and this city may turn around. MAYBE VOLUNTEER COPS SINCE PAID COPS VIOLATE RIGHTS TO GET LAID VACATIONS. All we want is corruption to end and to understand SUSPICION is not a crime or everyone is guilty. ID is required when a crime happens amd your arrested otherwise 38.02 says no ID.
