About

Sandbox Melrose is a beautiful restaurant, lounge, bar, patio, gaming spot and event venue located on Melrose Ave at Formosa.

Story

In true Hollywood fashion, one of LA’s premiere hot spots is getting a facelift. Sandbox, the new restaurant/bar and event space from TBC Hospitality Group will be having its Grand Opening on September 2nd, 2016.

Formally Bugatta Supper Club, Sandbox (www.sandboxmelrose.com) will open its doors as not only the renewed event space that’s it’s known for but also as a must visit destination for dinning and drinks and their new bottomless brunch on the weekends. As Bugatta Supper Club, the location has served as THE destination for some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Just a few of the shows that have thrown events here include Grey’s Anatomy, The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, Pretty Little Liars, Revenge, Supergirl, Criminal Minds, Body of Proof, The Grammys and Aquarius just to name a few. Many businesses, from the large (Home Depot, Sony, Kaiser, CAA and Evolution Films to name just a few) to smaller private events, have sought out this unique space for their signature events. With Sandbox, TBC Hospitality Group plans to continue with providing these clients with their signature events but will be expanding to include an unparalleled dining and drinks destination as well as a weekend brunch spot complete with bottomless Mimosas and create your own Bloody Mary’s. During the week, Sandbox will be having an early and late night happy hour with discounted drink specials to service the evergrowing Melrose/La Brea marketplace and patrons. Sandbox’s motto of EAT. DRINK. PLAY. will be seen not only in their new beach club décor but also with the addition of a myriad of games on-site such as skeeball, pinball, arcade games, basketball toss and life-sized Janga.

TBC Hospitality Group has created a name for itself as the brainchild behind the Los Angeles hotspots The Bungalow Club, Skewers, Bugatta Supper Club, Barbarella, Sushi Lux, Charcoal BBQ and the new Banditos (coming soon).

Fun place to have a drink with lots of games to help keep you entertained. Make the most of the happy hours in offer

Interesting place with plenty of games to play. It was way too hot to be sitting outside without a fan though.

This is such a fun place to go to hang out. There are some games, and ping pong as well. One group was hogging it the whole night, perhaps you have to reserve it? Not entirely sure on that one. Service is quite slow here though, it took ages to get a pitcher of beer for my friends birthday party.

Food was delicious, and the service was good. Their wine specials were also great!

Not the best "barcade" I've been to- namely because of the overpriced games and mediocre cocktails- but overall a decent place to hang out with your friends once the Sun has gone down. The main bar area has a few tables and plenty of bar space to order your drinks and maybe some snacks, but if food is what you're craving, might I suggest a Neopolitan Pizza in the game room at the back with your choice of Skee Ball, Ping Pong, Jenga, or some Hoops after snagging one of their spacious tables in the back or a cool booth seat with a sweet view of the goings-on in the room? It's all on a first-come-first-serve basis, so wiggle on in there and snag a spot for you and your friends. The prices are up there, and the food while good, may not be worth what you're paying. However, the portions are pretty huge, so if feeling full is what you want, gorge away. The menu features everything from tacos to full pizzas, as well as cocktails and happy hour specials. To be honest, the only thing that stood out to me was the cool air hockey table near the entrance- $2 per game- and the old school cartoons and movies playing on the big screens near the bar. The ambiance and energy can be a bit 'Meh,' depending on the night you come and who you're with. And if you choose to come for brunch during the day, good luck finding parking!
