Very impressed with omakase. Intimate venue and very legit and friendly staff. I love that it feels like a tucked away yet very high quality sushi bar in now. Will definitely be back.
Lead by Chef Billy who got trained in Kyoto and Kanazawa with Japanese government’s invitation, Saru offers no frill but high quality Sushi with reasonable price for many years, and it’s one of the most loved Sushi place by locals. They also have a good variety of Izakaya menu and the place is family friendly. It is often hard to book so take out is another recommendation.
Amazing sushi. Get the 12 piece variety so you can try all the different fish. Love that they have flavored sushi rice so you don't really need any sauce with the nigiri. Honestly it was so good I kinda wanted to just order a bowl of sushi rice. Very quick with the tea refills which is important to me because I drink so much of it with my meal. Fantastic service all around.
One of the freshest sushi bar in town - if you’re around here or not, you have to stop by. Their prices are reasonable and you’re absolutely in for a treat. No reservation for now during the pandemic Arrive early before they open The line gets a bit long
This is my favorite sushi house. I love it here. Show up at ten to twelve and you always get right in, no reservations. Decent coffee next door although parking can be a challenge.
Omakase at a reasonable price! The staff was very attentive and nice. Enjoyed sitting outside but can’t wait to try this at the sushi counter! Definitely will be back.

WOW OH WOW! I am so impressed. It is very rare to be so blown away with togo sushi. I called to eat in on Friday but they are full, so I placed my order for to go. The restaurant is pretty small inside but have decent outdoor seating. Bee, the server who packed my to go food, was very meticulous and packed everything so neatly. He even wiped the neatly package togo box. Very authentic Japanese experience of the attention to detail in packing! The eel sauce was packed on the side. What a genius idea. It keeps the sushi from being too soggy. 5 star! The sushi is fresh and perfectly seasoned. Not overpowering, and you really taste the quality of the fish. The sunomono is so good. It has pine nuts in it! For two people, I ordered Spicy dragon, spider roll, salmon tasting sashimi, miso soups, sunomono salad, and Rock and roll roll. Update: dined in there recently and was so impressed by some of the new dishes I tried. The tamago is a must have. It tastes like uncle tetsu cheesecake. So good! The seaweed salad is delicious as well. No fishy aftertaste. Very refreshing
Great spot for some true sushi and sashimi… we had the spicy dragon, rainbow, salmon avocado and the spider rolls with some sashimi as well, my favorite was the rainbow just coz the quality of the fish was amazing. Also the spicy crackers are fire!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: YesCurbside pickup: Yes
One of the best sushi restaurants in San Francisco. Authentic Japanese is hard to duplicate the unique experience. Very impressed with food quality. A bit more expensive than others. But well worth the money and a friendly staff is a huge plus. Definitely will recommend this place.
