Nice and clean. They offer water and soda to clients. 4 stars bc they cannot do designs on nails.

They seem to always be under staffed and always packed because of it. It's the closest nail salon to me and their gel color stays on good. That's the only perk.

Made an apt for 7, an hour before they closed, went in, asked for French shellac, asked if they could do an ombre French, they wanted to try despite my request for no glitter. So they did one, I didn't like it, they took it off, but of course that added time and I was there past the time they closed. Ultimately I felt rushed, and felt the job was not great. I appreciate them trying but I would've rather had a great nail job, rather than the rushed, unfinished edges that my nails ended up with. I moved into the area, and tried this place bc my boyfriend likes to get pedicures and has gone there before, but I'll make the trip back to Herndon before I go here again.

I saw the mixed reviews here but since people raved about Helen and the manager gave such good responses, I gave it a try. As it turned out I was matched with Helen...the same person who was very helpful and patient in explaining the difference between regular and gel as well as the pricing (although her accent+choppy English made it a little difficult to understand). In the chair I smiled and told her I saw the great comments about her online. She made no eye contact and said a quiet monotone thank you. I noticed she was not putting the polish on back to the cuticle but since she did that for every nail consistently I figured it was her style and I didn't want to offend her by "correcting her"/asking that she take the polish to the cuticle. My nails looked great aside from that. I still tipped. After 1-2 weeks the fairly wide space left in front of the cuticle looked even wider due to nail growth. So, I called, explained, and asked if I could get a fresh coat. When I arrived Helen worked on my nails and she repeatedly paused to speak to other staff members about it and they lingered looking at my nails then walked away, sometimes gigging about what she said in the foreign language (probably some kind of insult since she was talking in a tense, loud voice)...at one point she shouted "Sowa" whatever that means. She said to me "Your nail grow, that not my fault" but she slowly proceeded to apply polish on top of the old polish (instead of doing it properly. I didn't comment). Then some other lady walked up (I suspect it was the manager. She had better English skills and I never saw her doing nails) and told me (in an unoffensive tone) next time tell her I want the polish back to the cuticle. What?? Shouldn't that be the default?? But I only nodded. I dont get my nails done often, but when I have gotten them done the person always went to or close to the cuticle. Helen wears glasses so maybe she didn't feel confident about going that close since she'd risk needing to clean up the cuticle if she got any polish on the skin, or maybe it was done to make the nails look older sooner and bring in $ sooner...those are just my guesses. I'm giving a low score mainly because of the scene that was made, how she kept pausing to gossip, and how I was basically treated like a liar, not so much the original issue of the polish. I don't care for an invitation to give them another chance. My second visit was that chance and they did not impress. FYI my false nails didn't start to peel until about week 3 and a full set with regular polish was $30-$35 for those of you still considering this place.
