Beautiful Park with great trails I am a disc golfer, but didn't bring my discs, so I can't speak to the course, other than it looks nice and well maintained and I was bummed that I couldn't play it. However, I did walk a number of the trails in the park. The Beach trail is short. The distances stated on the map are actually round-trip, which is not made clear. The Beach at the end of the Beach Trail is bigger than the area at the Livingston trail. There is no "No Dogs" sign at the Beach trail beach, but there is one at the Livingston Trail beach. The woods are not very dense, so the views are really beautiful. There are lots of oaks, maples and some cherry trees. The trails are well maintained with hard-pack dirt with some sandy areas (especially on the climbs near the beaches).

You go here for the beach, right? It's about a 1 mile walk to the beach on a hilly path. Not to strenuous. I've done the walk in all seasons. One of the most memorable was in winter with big fluffy snow flakes falling. The beach is very nice once you get there.

Nice park, with lots of history! Trails for walking or hiking. Enjoy a beautiful hike down to lake Michigan beach. There is nice frisbee golf course near by as well. They are always working on some project to improve the park. Don't forget to check out the felt mansion, down the street, for a guided tour, or a haunted tour around Halloween. If you enjoy hiking the dunes around lake Michigan, or if you just enjoy a nice leisurely walk enjoying nature, come here!

All the local beaches parking lots were full. Not Saugatuck Dunes! A pleasant hike leads you to an almost private beach where the majority of the people there had their boats parked off shore!

It's so rarely crowded, knowing about it is like having your own private beach. If you want to scare yourself, read up on the "melonheads" legend of Saugatuck. Those creatures are said to live in these very woods. With sightings as recent as a few months ago, the legend may not be as ridiculous as it sounds. Bonus points if you tell your friends about the legend after sunset on the way back to the parking lot.
