Welcome to Scala! Just by walking in the door you can notice an aroma of fresh baked goods. Brings me back to Brooklyn in my younger days. The pastries are laid out in a wonderful array of tasty goods. I'm sure whatever you're craving they have. I would recommend the Lobster-tails. Excellent place for ordering for a party or small get together. You can call and pre order anything they offer and it will be prepared to your satisfaction. For anybody in the the area with a sweat-tooth or looking to surprise someone with a fancy pastry dish, Scala is the right place for you. Enjoy!

If there a way to give negative stars we would have given a negative five.  My daughter called to place an order and wanted to find out if they had what we needed for our Easter dinner.  The woman that answered the phone had the customer service skills of a dead snake saying, "hurry up, what do you want?  It's busy in here!"  After receiving this horrendous lack of customer service, my daughter gave my wife the phone where another woman was taking our order when she told my wife to hold, then disconnected the call.  Needless to say we are not patronizing this bakery anymore.  In fact, they are overrated and plan to let our friends know the type of service we received.  We placed our order with a bakery in Somerset whose products are as good, if not better and they treat their customers like they care about them.  I never write reviews, but the total lack of customer service and etiquette had to be mentioned.

Sorry to say but disappointed. Best cookies in town -- I've been going there for our Christmas cookies for 30 years. Got our  wedding cake from them from their New Brunswick store. But year after year I haul my butt up there, stand in line often for over an hour, and barely get a smile let alone a flicker of recognition. I don't need much, but I don't appreciate being made to feel like I'm bothering you, or that you're doing me a favor by taking my money. And after years of this treatment, I'm done. You had me, but you lost me. I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Love, love, love this bakery. Cash only! Bread is good, pastries pass this North Jersey boys taste test (though the Rum cake is not quite perfect), doughnuts, coffee cakes, and croissants, oh my. Don't go here hungry or you will leave with many items.

Excellent bakery. Lots of sweet options.
Makes excellent birthday cakes too. I used them for our daughter s 1st birthday cake
