Hours and Dates

ScareHouse is open on select dates from September 15th till October 29th. Turn out the Lights returns this season! On November 3rd and 4th, we turn off the lights and customers must navigate through the haunt with only one glowstick for their group.

ScareHouse is open Thursdays and Sundays from 7 PM-10PM and Fridays and Saturdays from 7PM-11:30PM.

Security Changes

In the interest of customer and employee safety, all customers entering the ScareHouse will be subject to wanding by a handheld metal detector. Guests will have to place cell phones, keys, and large metal objects on a table which may be visually inspected. Bags may be subject to inspection.

Age Requirements

ScareHouse and the Turn Out the Lights event are not recommended for children under 13, and no one under 7 will be admitted. There are no special prices for children and no refunds if anyone decides not to finish the haunt. There are many emergency exits throughout each attraction in case anyone gets too scared to continue.

The minimum age for The Basement, which is a separate attraction and requires a separate ticket purchase, is 18. Proof of age is required. Click here for more information about The Basement.

Customers should park at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. A free shuttle runs from the zoo to the ScareHouse about every 15 minutes. The shuttle runs from 6:45 PM till the last customer leaves the haunt.

Inclimate Weather

ScareHouse is an indoor haunt and open no matter what Pittsburgh weather throws at us. The lines to enter ScareHouse are outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Shortest Wait Times

We suggest visiting us in September or on a Thursday or Sunday if you're looking for the shortest wait times. The show is the same every night we're open. The way our ticketing system works is you purchase a ticket for a half hour time slot. You usually enter some time during that half hour, depending on when you got in line. When we're busy, typically Friday and Saturday nights in October, you may end up waiting longer to enter. During the very busy nights, we will do our best to ensure you enter during your time slot without compromising your show experience.

An amazing experience, the level of detail that goes into the sets is like no one else. The quality of the actors. All come together to make for one hell of a scary experience. Will go back for sure!

Went for the Valentine's basement event. Not scary at all. Felt like they were taking the outside your comfort zone approach. Boys in their underwear, lots of sexual innuendos and swearing. But no classic gore or jump scares. I will give the real haunted house a chance come October but this was disappointing

A very good haunted house, great scares, probably one of the best in Pittsburgh. Make sure to pay a visit next time its in season I would recommend. There is a special adult only area I did not visit so I do not know what's there but try it for sure.

I love the Scare House and go every year. The "hotel staff" that entertained us while we were in line were a lot of fun. (I did miss Princess Holly though.) The fog was a little much this year, and my throat burned a little from it. The actors did a great job and are very true to their characters. I didn't go in The Basement, but I talked to some people right after they came out of it, and they said it wasn't too bad. Not nearly as terrifying and hands-on as they had expected. Mostly a lot of in-your-face yelling and some water was poured on them. I can't confirm any of this since I didn't tour this part of the attraction, but I thought I would share what I had heard. I definitely recommend The Scare House at the General Admission price.

One of Pittsburgh's best haunted houses. Different themes every season, with more than one theme as you travel through the haunt. Masterful creations of mood and awesome, unique props. This haunt also participates in several community and charity events throughout the year, not just Halloween time.
