I grew up in Brown Deer going to the Schroeder Y as a kid. I rejoined Rite Hite about 3 and a half years ago. All of the staff are very friendly. Very diverse group of members and all very friendly. There is ample variety of equipment including free weights, machines, and cardio equipment. Also a variety of classes to choose from; some free and some have a small fee if you choose to partake in them. The gym area is very roomy and not cramped with people on top of each other like some gyms that I have been to in the past. I go at 5 in the morning so that might account for some of the comfort. Cost is a little higher at $50 per month but worth it to me. Some of my concerns are areas of disrepair that seem to be getting worse and haven't been addressed. The mat carpeting in the weight lifting area is torn and coming up in several areas. The floor moldings are coming off and have been "repaired" with blue tape. There is water damage to the ceiling in several areas which needs to be repaired. I am hoping that they address these areas SOON, as I am just starting to look at other gyms in the area. I love this gym as it is only 5 minutes from my home and for all the reasons stated above but the repairs needed are well overdue.

Do NOT go here, and especially don't purchase training here. Carly, who is in charge of the trainers, treats the members terribly and the trainers even worse. Recently, she fired a great trainer for a misunderstanding. Fine. However, she told all of his clients first, which is how he eventually found out about his termination. This is unbelievably unprofessional and a horrible thing to do the most requested, and busy, trainer of the Milwaukee YMCAs. In addition to this, you can almost always see her in her office, not speaking with the members, most likely with a frown on her face. She does not go out of her way for any member. How she got her job is beyond me - she is unfriendly, unprofessional, and unhelpful. I will never be coming here again and will pass this along to all Y members I know.

Pool schedule is terrible. Always very limited lap lanes open. Even when there are only two or three lap lanes open there will be private swim lessons in them. Also the Olympic sized pool is almost never available. No reason to advertise an aquatic center if it's not actually going to be used.

Extremely clean, very friendly staff, updated workout equipment and plenty of space to work out. I would prefer the swimming pool to be a little cooler as it typically runs around 86 or 87° which is quite warm for a swimming workout.
