The Secretary of State is the state's chief elections officer, chief corporations officer, and supervisor of the State Archives & Library.
The Secretary of State is second in line of succession to the governor and heads the Washington State Elections Division, Corporations & Charities Division, and our Washington State Archives & Washington State Library.
Additionally the Secretary of State oversees Legacy Washington, who documents extraordinary stories in Washington’s history through oral & written works. The Combined Fund Drive, the Washington State’s workplace giving program for active and retired public employees. And administering the state's Address Confidentiality Program for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
