Story

St. Junipero Serra Catholic School is valued as a leading Diocesan Catholic Parish Elementary School located in South Orange County, California. Motivated by the teachings of Saint Junipero Serra and persevering spirit of our founding families, we nurture our students to live and model their Catholic faith as servant leaders of Christ. Guided by the Holy Spirit, Serra students are encouraged to use their God-given gifts and talents to serve the challenges of this ever-changing world.

Rooted in the Catholic faith, evangelical vision and spirit, the community of St. Junipero Serra Catholic School welcomes families from the parishes of Holy Trinity, San Francisco Solano, Santiago de Compostela and surrounding communities. I have mixed feelings about this school, but overall I had a great time. It's really a shame that I didn't learn the verb of gustar and tener and how to conjugate infinitives in Spanish nor witness the completion of the chapel while I was there. Will update this review to 5 stars once the chapel and the whatever learning center is completed, but I'll probably have my grandchildren do that.

This is the best school I could ever go to. Everyone is nice and we get to pray and some school don't get that opportunity.

This is the worst school I have ever been to. Yes, the principle is nice, and yes, it is big. But I went there for 8 1/2 years, and hated every second of it. All they care about is money. Whether it's collections at mass, or fundraisers. They don't care about the kids, parents, they're only nice to you if you give them money. Second, bullying. Yes, I know this is a problem everywhere. But there, is like HELL. I got spit on, literally, kids would lick their fingers and wipe it on my face, clothing, all over me. I would crouch in a little ball, with the yard duty clearly seeing this, and they don't give a crap. I have also been called names, which the teachers don't care about at all, pushed, shoved, even rumors were made about me killing people, eating hamsters (long story), calling people names, making fun of my face, 2and EVEN ME TAKING DRUGS. I wore a T shirt to school that said "Yolo Stone" on it, in comparison to Yellowstone. And almost everyone in the grade agreed that meant I was taking drugs. Everyday, and I'm not kidding, everyday after school, I would climb into the car and start crying about the horrible day that I had. The teachers were there to supervise children at the pickup line, so they clearly saw me, and didn't give a crap. I have actually considered suicide all because of this horrible school. I got help, and refrained, but I attempted. NEVER go to this school. The teachers even mocked me. Not all of them, but 2 seventh grade teachers would cal me names and make fun of me. I'm not gonna say who, but don't trust the teachers. One of those teachers PURPOSELY FAILED ME. I'm not kidding. I don't know why, probably because they hated me, but that is seriously messed up. They called me a liar, and even the teachers lied about promises that they made, mostly because of free dress. But that same teacher called me a liar, and made fun of my singing voice, and how bad I was at math, and was even ruse to my friends. This is a long review, I know, but I just want to warn people about this hell they call a Catholic School. After I left I went to St. John's Episcopal School, which is SO much better. Please, don't go there. Even the nurse won't care about anything wrong with you. One time I had a cold, and they didn't care. The nurses are very rude. They also don't know how to do a proper lice check. 95% of the kids that got checked got sent home because they thought they had lice, but they actually didn't. Please, be careful if you go there, because if you do, I guarantee that they aren't as friendly as they seem.

Left the school after 4 years. Was great school when we started but the administration is very misguided and self serving. Keeping teachers that every parent in a class finds to be unfit they just pass the buck to get through the school year. It is all about the fundraising and projects the CEO is trying to fund at the time. So if you are looking for a place to literally pay for ever aspect of your children's education bring your checkbook and they are ready for you. When we started the teachers were great and education was above the public school. That is no longer the case. As far as class size, they will promise a number and after the first day of school have 4-5 more in a class, claiming that was normal. We left along with many other families as were we sick of the misrepresentations and false promises.

Love the school, love the principal, love the faith but wish their teacher to student ratio was lower. One to 29 is crazy. Come on Serra Catholic, get with it. You are too good for this.
