I just had to have my beloved cat Norman put down after a 2 year battle with chronic kidney disease. I called and spoke with the staff before I made the drive down from Harrisonburg, and they were ready and waiting for us upon our arrival. The staff was all very nice, but Dr. Jagger was simply incredible. It is so very obvious that she loves animals and what she does, we shared some tears as my best buddy took his final breaths. She really made a tough situation just a little bit better, and for that I am truly grateful.

I'm writing to express disappointment in the care of my mother's cat, Skeeter. As of right now, Skeeter seems to be in immense pain, unable to sleep and is barely drinking any water. He is constantly in search of a spot, in what I perceive as him trying to find a place to crawl under and die. As you can imagine, this is extremely upsetting to my mother, and exacerbated by the fact she is a widow and Skeeter is the only thing left she has of my father. Skeeter was his cat. Watching him suffer is making her relive watching my dad suffer from kidney failure. Your vet diagnosed Skeeter has having cancer, and while his condition slightly improved under your care, I'm having a hard time trying to understand why your vet let him go home with my mother when his condition was only going to deteriorate once he was home without oxygen and other life support. I understand your hospital was very busy yesterday, but when my mother came to pick him up when you cleared him to go home, she received no instruction from the vet on his care moving forward. The vet even forgot to give my mother his medication. She had to ask the vet tech for it. Not only did you give my mother false hope that she had more time with him on this Earth, now she is tasked with finding someone to end his suffering--something your vets take an oath to prevent and relieve for animals. Now both Skeeter and my mother are suffering. Losing a beloved pet is very difficult and there's no pleasant way for these situations to end--I totally understand that. But I feel our pain could have been lessened if you all had taken the time to really evaluate Skeeter's condition before sending him home. Mistakes happen, and I know you were extremely busy yesterday, but now a bad situation has been made much, much worse. I'm not looking for an explanation or compensation. Just know we won't be bringing any more of our animals to your hospital in the future and we will advise others against it as well.

I am so mad about this rip off place. If I could give a zero star I would. All they wanted is my money and my kitty did not get any good treatment or attention : (

It took a while for me to speak on this, but this place was beyond amazing. I lived 45 minutes away from here but made the drive to save our dog. Our poor puppy went into shock shortly after receiving shots from our primary vet. We drove him here after a recommendation from a second vet (ours was closed by the time we rushed the dog to the vet). Dr. Jagger was one of the sweetest vets I have ever met. She took in our puppy quickly and we had a short wait before they brought us in. Luckily, our puppy did okay for the night as they called us for any check ups and allowed you to call as much as you want. Which my mother was beyond grateful for as she called them like every hour in the night. The staff was so sweet and never made you feel like an inconvenience. Unfortunately, our dog had to go to a specialist in Charlettsville where we learned he had a liver shunt and his liver was failing. He stayed there for 4 days while undergoing tests, transfusions, and much more. Which through this whole time, the vet here called me to check on our dog, Snow, and his condition. We took him home and unfortunately his health deteriorated so quickly, after 24 hours, we had to take him for our goodbyes. And I was beyond grateful we went here. Dr. Jagger was working that night again and it was a sense of comfort and relief. After discussing every single option, we knew we had to euthanize him because his health would just get worse. She gave us a long time to say goodbye, and when it was time, she made it easy for us. It was very sad and painful to lose our family dog, especially since he was so young, but Verona Veterinary Emergency Services was there from the beginning and end. I HIGHLY recommend this place for emergencies. They are a wonderful staff and really care for their animals!
