The hospital is owned and operated by the Towson, Maryland based Sheppard Pratt Health SystemPrior to its purchase by Sheppard Pratt the facility was known as Taylor Manor, one of only a dozen privately owned psychiatric facilities in the nation.HistoryIn 1907 Taylor Manor started as the Patapsco Manor Sanitarium built on property along New Cut road in Ellicott City owned by Dr. Rushmore White. The twenty person facility suffered a fire in 1923. In 1939 the facility was purchased by Issac H. Taylor and run as the Pinel Clinic. Taylor operated an optometrist business and Taylor’s Furniture on Main Street. In 1948 the facility expanded to 48 beds, and in 1968 it expanded to 151 beds. I can only speak for the Outpatient Adult Day/Partial Hospital: Majority of the staff is Caring and lovely. Shout out to Tracey, Juilia, Lydia, Dr.Krabchavok, Robert, the van Lady, and MARK! the stories were very personable and relatable. I definitley needed this. However ur quality of group maybe impacted by ur fellow peers who are also in the group. And the groups r usually large. Social Anxiety provoking. The physical Enviomental is small and grungey in my opinion. Very bland and not inspiring. The office space was a constant issues bc groups were very randomly put together depending on the day. Main group rm was dark and moody. The other spaces were ur standard hospital. Not a full five stars bc the maintance on the establishment was definitley lacking... Probably bc of the fact they r planning to tear down the building. If ur rly not trying to b inpatient and this is ur closest hospital- i would reccomend. They even have a lot of take home worksheets. The info they provide u us GOLDEN.

I spent time here when i was 13. The staff was horrible, they did not care amd it showed. The "school" they offer is a joke and the facility was nasty. I was there for nearly a year and saw outside twice, and the outdoors part is a tiny yard on a slope. This place created more problems for me than it solved.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS FACILITY! There is a major lack of communication, trust and caring. My daughter went through a major trauma before her stay there (as I'm sure most do) and the lack of communication and very much made my daughter feel very alone and very much like a number. They don't care here, for most it seems this is just a job. It seems very cold and like they are just uncaring babysitters. The social worker, Joanna B, was in a major rush to get out of the office on her Friday evening, my daughters well being not her priority. I called several times without return calls. Then I find that she's not receiving help (which I understand due to the short stay, but some sort of caring has to happen) so I work to get her help otherwise and still no communication. The facility was dark and dirty, most of the staff uncaring. When I tried to communicate to someone at the facility my concerns and frustrations, they hung up on me. This is not a healthy place for adolescents.
