This store is quite nice. They often have great sales on items, which I frequently use. Even their regular prices are fair and competitive with other grocery stores. And, all the staff has always been very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Plus, I love that they've happily employed many people with various disabilities, who might have extreme difficulty finding employment at any other business. 

Despite all these positive things, I don't go to this store, as often as I used to go. Sadly, it really isn't the store's fault. It's a select group of customers' fault. Each time I've gone to this store, in the last few years, I've found multiple open containers/ bags of food (cookies, fruit snacks, chips, etc.), throughout the store. Parents are allowing their kids to eat snacks from a container/ bag, without ever paying for the food. And, they just place the open container/ bag on any shelf, before checking out. 

I understand that parents often need to give their children a snack, to occupy them, while inside the store. But, I feel this is the wrong way to go about it. These parents need to realize they're actually teaching their children it's completely acceptable to steal. And, the gravity and immorality, of this theft, is only compounded by the fact that this store posts signs, stating each child is allowed to receive one free cookie, from the bakery, AND a free slice of cheese or lunch meat, from the deli. Instead of opening a container/ bag of snacks shortly after entering the store, perhaps, these parents should only allow their children to take advantage of the free cookie or lunch meat/ cheese, at the end of their shopping trip. And, the children should only get the cookie and lunch meat/ cheese, if their children's behavior has been appropriate. In reality, these parents, who are stealing food, are rewarding their children's bad behavior and encouraging the escalation of their children's bad behavior. These parents need to do better at managing their children's behavior, to make this a better store, for all customers to enjoy.

this store has great meat and the meat is fresh.  we purchased a pork loin for under 20 dollars.  the freshness can't new beat.

The shopping was fine. However going through the checkout line, the female that packed the shopping bags put my loaf of bread on the bottom and out heavier items on top of it. The result was squashed bread. I selected that loaf of bread because it was full. Now the middle half of it is partially squeezed. You never and I mean NEVER put bread on the bottom of a grocery bag with other heavier items on top! My experience today, well just let's say not to satisfied. SNS in Penn Hills should teach their employees in the checkoit line how to properly pack groceries. Had to tell them to lay the 2 liter bottle of coke on its side on the bag so it wouldn't fall over. I can pack grocery bags better then what they do.
