Beautiful and special space in the old basment vault area. They had some of the most UNIQUE cocktails I've ever had! Very much worth the price for the level of creativity and storytelling they provide! Joe was a fabulous server and we loved the ambiance! Definitely stop in and try multiple drinks here, you won't regret it!Food: 5/5
Silver Lyan is located on the basement level of the Riggs Hotel. It's a totally different feel from Cafe Riggs, which is the other restaurant in the hotel on the lobby level. Silver Lyan has more of a dark cocktail lounge feel to it, which is perfect for date night or a sophisticated drink. While I only stopped by for a quick nightcap, the lounge overall is beautiful and very classy.
Great atmosphere, intricate cocktails, the pretzels bites and the oysters were super tasty. Cocktails were a bit eccentric; cocktail menu was too wordy, nevertheless it was a fun experience. Must make reservations.Food: 3/5
The drinks are pricy but innovative, it was fun to see the stories and information behind them on the menu. The space has an intimate vibe, lots of space, good place to chat and catch up with friends. There’s a two hour limit on reservations, but that felt like plenty of time for us!
An easy favorite! I'm always a fan of the creativity and passion that the mixologists shared with their menu. Thanks to Eric for the wonderful time and dealing the Superman 2! Will definitely come back again, see you soon!
The best cocktail bar in DC & it’s not even close. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Whether you’re coming for a birthday, girls night out, or just looking for a fun time with friends, this place never misses.Food: 5/5
the longest and wanted to try it. I finally got my chance Saturday. We were seated easy enough and was attentive to properly. It wasn't too loud, although I will say that the music was subpar. The food was really good. We had tater tot's with the dill sauce, but the drinks were below average mine and my partners drink he had to return because it basically tasted like fruit juice. Not what I was expecting for such a pricey spot. The bathroom is clean though.
I stayed at Riggs Hotel so it only makes sense to check out Silver Lyan at the basement of my hotel. Interestingly, everywhere I dined and asked the server where to enjoy good cocktails, most of them will name "Silver Lyan" as one of their recommendations, so it was cool to check out this bar where many suggested. Moment I walked in the basement, you can't really see an entrance, you hear low volume of music, not until I seen someone walked out of nowhere from a curtain, I peeked and realized Silver Lyan is right behind the curtain. The hostess greeted me and asked for my reservation and then proceeded to guide me to the bar area which I preferred as I can interact with the mixologist and ask them for recommendation. The bartender who was serving me was marvelous, she provided me with lots of great recommendations, you can tell that she is very passionate with the cocktails as she was super focused in pouring the right amount of ingredients to each drink. She was so very knowledgeable and can even tell the background story of these drinks and how the names of some of these cocktails originated from. She recommended me the "Superman 2" and "Smith Island Snap", they were both delicious. And of course, the real starfish and seashell embedded into the ice cube in my Smith Island Snap drink was something I never seen before. That was cool! And I finished off with a Suntory Hibiki Japanese Whiskey. I highly recommend anyone to come visit Silver Lyan. It's cozy, nice ambience, great vibes and it's a perfect date night!
The Silver Lyan works as a cocktail bar and lounge on so many levels. First, it's nestled inside an actual former bank vault, next is the subterranean dark speakeasy vibe with gorgeous design sensibility, then there are the incredibly creative cocktails they serve, up next is the eclectic but accessible music that's bouncing through the speakers, and last are the very polished servers and staff that buzz in and around your table. We waited 30 mins on the wait list to get in on a Friday night around 10pm, and it was worth the wait. Definitely a unique lounge that should be on the must try list in DC.
Absolutely wonderful "vault like" experience in the basement of The Riggs Hotel at 900 F Street NW. I can't rate the food but the atmosphere and service from Eric was superb! Folks, it's dark and moody in there and I loved it! And OMG the cocktails! Very very intimate ..you gotta go!Service: 5/5
