The only reason I’m giving this place two stars instead of one is because of the atmosphere. I’m so disappointed giving this review because I’ve had Urban Roast on my list of places to dine since it opened and being a server myself, I expect so much more when coming out to eat. This was our first and only time dining here. Unfortunately, our time there was horrible. It was my best friend’s birthday, a group of 6 of us and it took 10 minutes to sit us after having a reservation we were on time for, and to sum it up the service was just incredibly slow in general. This was especially frustrating due to the fact we had established to our waitress that we were in a rush. After about 30 mins of having our order ready, she finally came over and took our order. What confused me is that when the food came out, we were missing a salad. If the order is taken on a handheld while standing at the table, how can you possibly forget to ring it in? This took forever to communicate since the server didn’t come back to check on us after getting our meals. After getting her attention she said it would just be 2 minutes. After passing the 10 minute mark, which is the time it takes to make another salad meaning she forgot it I then lost my mind and asked her why it’s gonna be on the bill when we have to leave now. She then got attitude with me and said if we want to eat it she won’t be taking it off. She said they also don’t have a manager and that she was the head server when I asked to speak with one. This was especially frustrating and felt very unprofessional. As a server, I could never imagine catching an attitude with a customer in the way she did and then not apologizing or fixing any of her mistakes to try and better our experience. My friend whose birthday it was, was obviously miserable, along with the rest of the table. I wish the best for this place in the future but with the experience we had, it will not last very long in a place like D.C.
The aesthetics were and are amazing. Drinks were great. Food trash. They don’t have wings but they have buffalo chicken dip. Red Flag. I got a burger it was garbage. No fries. The second red flag was how empty it was during happy hour. Wanted to love it. Couldn’t. Hated it. No shade.Food: 1/5
Urban Roast left little to be desired. I’ve been on 2 separate occasions and both were a delight. The staff is very friendly and provide great service. The food is delicious and the portions are well above average. You’ll leave full like we did lol. Now the ambience???? BEAUTIFUL!!! Flowers everywhere! We went during the winter then again in the spring. Both setups were amazing. We kept looking around and taking pics, even in the bathroom which was very clean and smelled great! Drinks weren’t very strong so it’s a great place for a girls night, first date, or dinner where you’re not looking to get wasted. I can’t wait to go back!

Asked two servers for a birthday dessert and waited an hour to get handed a to-go desert with a passive aggressive attitude from our waitress like I was creating a huge inconvenience. Not to mention we were there for three hours and she MAYBE checked up on us twice and the restaurant was not busy at all. Also, the last half hour of the restaurant being open they were clearly slamming silverware as a sign for us to get out soon.
Wow what a beautiful place with great vibes. Our server Marcus was great and attentive and had some good recommendations. Food was delicious. Great spot for a date night or a day/night with the girls.

Absolutely adorable and romantic ambiance. Delish coffee...the food we had the surf and turf..AMAZING! The steak smooth as butter..perfectly seasoned! As a native MARYLANDER's its hard to impress us with an exceptional crab cake.Urban roast pulled it off!! The grilled salmon was perfect..the house made Cesar dressing had a great bite to it and the salmon was grilled to perfection! For a date night be sure to ask to be seated in the Rose room. Great service, great coffee and great food!
Such a cool restaurant/bar to visit while in the city. The drinks are great and the food is even better. Wonderful staff! Must see.Food: 5/5
So if you are like us and looking for any food after 9pm in Washington DC, we highly recommend this place till 11p. Food was off the grid. I had the Gyro with lamb/beef..... wow. She had the Greek cucumber salad... nothing left. I know we should have shown food when it was delivered to the table... but here is the results.
