Story

Our History


In the late 1800’s Ben Skalet arrived in New York City from Russia and began working with precious metals and gemstones.

By the 1940’s Ben and his two sons built a growing business in Fine Jewelry.

In the 1960’s Skalet, Inc. had grown to a much larger company designing jewelry for some of America’s largest retailers.

In 1973 John Skalet with his wife Barbara opened their own Jewelry store, Golden Treasures. Taking what he had learned from his family business, John enjoys designing custom pieces and working directly with the public.

In 1982 Howard Skalet joined the family business after completing the comprehensive courses at the Gemological Institute of America.

In 1982 Adam Skalet, after years of apprenticeship and training at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts began to add his own unique designs and creative talent to the family business.

It was then in 1983 with the fourth generation active in the family business we formally changed the name to SKALET FAMILY JEWELERS.

Today Skalet Family Jewelers, Inc. enjoys the deep satisfaction of creating personal pieces of fine jewelry to mark the special events in people’s lives. Our extended family of customers now spans generations.
