Fun place to walk through and get a flavor of South Florida history...way more colorful and interesting than I ever imagined! Ask the workers there and you'll learn tons. Very well worth the visit.

Ted Smallwood's store is stepping back in time to the late 19th and early 20th century. I became interested in the history of Southwest Florida, so this was a must stop and I wasn't disappointed. Check out the book, "Shadow Country", by Peter Matthiessenn. It's extremely long, but will keep your attention and you'll better understand Smallwood's Store.

The store is small, and the only thing here. $5 per person admission, so we didn't go in.

Great piece of South Florida history. If your'e ever in Chokoloskee it would actually be kind of silly not to go to Smallwood! It's literally stocked with historical artifacts and is the scene of a notorious killing -- the murder of the outlaw Edgar J. Watson.
