We had one of our bathrooms totally remodeled by SMY about 2 year ago. The workmanship was excellent and, had I been asked for a reference I would have gladly given it but, not now. We started having problems with our ceramic tile and needed the name of the manufacturer and number for the representative so we could see what could be done. Seemed simple and straightforward enough, right? Not so! SMY has not even responded to my request for this information. After weeks of waiting I sent a letter in to the owner and it has been many weeks more and still no response. This is not good service. Imagine a company that will not even respond to a request for the manufacturer of the tile they sell and installed if there is a problem.This shows me that this company cannot be relied upon after they have taken your money. So, if you do not have a problem you have will praise their workmanship BUT if you do have a problem, FORGET IT! They are long gone and will not even respond. I cannot recommend them to anyone now as they have left us in the lurch with a problem that they only have to give us a name and number for to help solve. Poor, poor company.

Vlad and the rest of the crew at SMY did a great job with the selection, pricing, delivery and installation of out cabinets and flooring. The cabinets were Medallion Silver and flooring was Kentwood Cherry. Never any pressure and always willing to make it work for the customer is how I would describe them. I was referred to them by my friend who is their granite supplier. There pricing was very competitive and workmanship is top notch. I would highly recommend that you check them out if you need anything done in your home.

Overall a good experience. We did comparison shopping with 4 other counter top contractors and found they had pretty good prices but were not really willing to negotiate much off their original quote. We ended up going with them since they were close to our house, were patient and profession and cited local references of happy clients (we checked). Once the contract was done, Smy set us up with their granite countertop fabricator so that we could pick our slab. It was a bit of a drive (near Seatac) and we ended up having to go to two places to find the stock we wanted. But the warehouse had a number of slabs we could pick from and the fabricator was pretty patient. He got the guys to get a forklift to pull the slab we wanted and position it in front of sunlight so we could get a good look at it. It was a slow day in the warehouse so I wouldn't expect them necessarily to take this much time with everyone. The guys fabricated and installed the counter tops on the day promised and completed the job that day. The installation quality was good. The fittings between the granite pieces were tight and it looked like they did a good job caulking the granite onto the drywall above the splash guard. I'm not a contractor so I wouldn't know if it's a good or average job but we're happy. The next day, we had some issues with the appliance installations. The sink faucet was shipped to the wrong place so was not installed on the day promised. The vent to the stove was a different shape than what they thought. The microwave didn't have an outlet so we were told we needed an electrician. So at the end of the day, none of the appliances or sink was installed as promised. So why the 5 stars? Well, I thought they handled the problem very professionally and quickly. They answered the phone late in the evening and worked with us to figure out how to resolve the problem quickly. They found a vent adapter after calling a bunch of places, picked up the faucet, got us setup with an electrician that would be able to run a new power feed from our fuse box at a reasonable price and time frame and arranged to get all the work done the next day at an agreeable time. By the end of the next night, the kitchen was installed. The electrician had to come back the following day to complete the wiring install to the fusebox but at the end of the next day, they were able to get everything installed so no one had to come back to do work in the kitchen. For missing the deadline, they waived the charge of "custom vent work" for our stovetop (they also did some custom shelf work for our microwave and it took less time than the quote so that also contributed to the waived charges of the extra vent work). It seemed fair. Additionally, the next day, they also came back to make a simple trim alignment correction on the new microwave oven they installed. During the whole project, they remained courteous and professional. So in they end, they made good on their contract. I don't think anyone could reasonably expect more. After the project was fully completed and paid for, we experienced a defect with the kitchen sink faucet (SMY sold and installed the faucet) 3 weeks later. SMY came the very next day to fix the faucet.

Bathroom Remodel We recently worked with SMY to remodel our upstairs bathroom. We couldn't be happier with the results. Vlad and his team were extremely professional, timely, meticulous and clean and they listened to what we had hoped to achieve. We worked together on design, pricing and the installation scheduling. The process was actually a give and take along the way— with suggestions by Vlad that allowed us to make allowances when you had to. There were small glitches along the way (which there always are) and these were handled efficiently and timely. I'd strongly recommend them if you are looking to remodel or do any kind of improvements in your home. If there were a "6 star" rating, he and his team would have it.

SMY Home Improvement exceeded our expectations when they remodeled our kitchen. They worked within our budget and addressed every issue we brought forth and if there was a problem, they solved it. They were easy to work with, the least stressful remodeling experience we have ever had with a contractor. Their workmanship was professional and so were their employees. They cleaned up very well after the job was done. We would (and have) recommended them to friends and neighbors because we felt they offered a very good value in materials selection and construction quality. We will definitely call them for a bid again if we have any more remodeling projects.
