Solid pizza here, especially their pepperoni pie. My husband loves their spinach dip, which is also really good. Wouldn’t get pizza anywhere else in the neighborhood!
I tend to stick to pepperoni, but the seasonal looked good. It has hot honey, vodka sauce, two kinds of cheese fresh mozzarella, caramelized onions, and pepperoni. It was a small shop with three stools that faced an open window. Service was so friendly. This New Yorker was impressed. I'll go out of my way to go back.
Traveling with a friend who has severe gluten and nut allergies, she's understandably wary of eating out. Sofia's was the first place that she felt comfortable eating at that wasn't Chipotle! The pizza was incredible, very classic NY style. They don't have much marketing about their allergy friendliness, but I did happen to find reviews on Google Maps and we met someone here who recommended them as well. Their garlic knots were also top tier! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and completely nut-free!
Spinach Dip Pie is good. Everything else just so-so. I stay nearby sometimes, but had a bunch of slices delivered in the rain, so maybe ordering slices just isn't the way to go, so ignoring temperature, the flavor and topping of the slices just wasn't anything to write home about. The Season Grandma slice with cup and char pepperoni and hot honey was the second best, but I've had better elsewhere. If you're in a pinch or imbibing at the GoC across the street, come here, get that Spinach Pie slice. Sadly, otherwise, plenty of other good pizza spots within a 5 minute walk of here that I'd prefer to go to.
Spinach dip slice is so good – probably the single best slice I've ever had. The rectangle seasonal grandma slice is amazing and girthy. The vodka slice is delicious. The margherita slice is alright.
Nut free and gluten free options. Delicious! Adorable pizzeria. Small inside with limited seating. Very much enjoyed our pizza with our allergy family. Highly recommend.Food: 5/5
This place was my fave for real Italian pizza & came here weekly to get pizza and chat with the 2 Brothers who owned the place but in recent months has gone down. The lady at the counter who dresses for the beach in winter has trouble understanding simple orders, is rude, can't multitask as you can see by other reviewers has trouble understanding delivery orders & acts discriminatory and rude toward the delivery drivers. Also gets belligerent when you try to explain things she doesn't understand then casts you off for other customers. As another reviewer said she touches herself & then the pizza. I've been coming here since they opened & love the food but will not return unless you please remove this nasty, unprofessional worker. She represents this fantastic landmark to all your loyal customers which you are losing due to her who are going next door to Marinara.
Strong pepperoni slice and the specialty square pan pizza grandmas style with onions was intriguing. Upside down slice was very subpar and dried out. Good Pizza but I see why it dropped out of the top 100 in the US this past year.
Average portions, price, decent taste for midtown. Tried the grandma slice and the spinach dip slice to go. Grandma slice tasted good, combination of sweet, salty, savory. Spinach slice was ok. Both slices could be a bit more salty, particularly for the toppings.
Unfortunately, when you decide to order any of their whole pies for delivery via DoorDash or Ubereats, you’ll likely receive them cold and hard as a rock. The one star rating may not reflect the atmosphere, however if you choose to work with delivery companies you better ensure to the best of your abilities that your food is delivered in the way it was meant to be received. The past several times we ordered for delivery the boxes were exposed to the winter weather ie rain, snow; recently the pizza we got was burnt black on one side. We wanted to give this place a chance but given these recurring issues, will no longer order from them.
