Solitude is a pure, authentic and untarnished Utah territory. Serene or extreme, there's nothing between you and the perfect mountain day. Located in Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah, the resort offers eight chairlifts, 77 runs, three bowls and 500 annual inches of snow spread over 1,200 acres for skiing and snowboarding.

Fantastic day for amazing terrain. The skiing is a bit more fun and challenging than many resorts in the area. We had a great time poking our way through bowls of bumps. There is some good easier terrain as well. No lift lines to speak of even on the holiday! We will be back soon I hope.

Great for beginners, ski school luck of the draw, bring your own food. We had 3 first timers on ski school. After 15min of verbal instruction, teacher puts them all on the lift chair. Fail! Luckily after an hour with Mr. Sink-or-swim another instructor came and actually taught how to get up, stop, release skis, turn, etc. Lunch was a disaster. Nowhere to sit, 25min to get a little piece of Salmon (ironically way undercooked). Bring an energy bar or sandwich instead. Class after lunch was again with good instructor, and there was a good variety of green slopes to take the fresh new skiers. Great value for the money, $70 liftopia. Well groomed trails, despite the limited amount of snow. Summit lift was closed, but still enjoyable blues and blacks between 8100 and 9850ft.

I had a great experience last week at Solitude Mountain Resort. My Dad and I went skiing together. Even though the season this year hasn't yielded much snow, the resort kept the main runs full of man made snow. As the evening approached, conditions became icy and my Dad took a nasty fall and broke his leg. The Ski Patrol and Clinic on site were incredible! Very fast, caring, friendly and professional. They turned a painful accident into a pleasant experience. They even set my Dad up with an Orthopedic Surgeon at Salt Lake Regional so he could get his leg fixed the very next day!

Don't tell anyone about this place. I love skiing here in the Winter, rarely any lines even between Christmas and New Year's. Great friendly staff. The Summer activities are awesome as well, the mountain bike tracks are awesome and the best disc golf course I've played by far.

We enjoyed that it is not as crowded as Park City. Great trail for beginners. Great trails for good skiers. Very poor trails for those in-between. Only one real green trail. So if you are above a beginner, and not yet a good skier, this is not a good place for you.
