Story

Opened in 1999, Sotto Sotto creates authentic Italian food, with complex flavors that develop from centuries of Italian culinary traditions. Sotto Sotto’s impeccable hospitality and intimate dining room promote the feeling that one is dining in a roomful of friends rather than strangers. A hundred years of plaster layer the dining room walls, hand-sandblasted by chef-owner Riccardo Ullio to create abstract patterns of pale blue, cream, faded green and turquoise, reminiscent of a seaside Roman villa. Simple décor and soothing colors of Sotto Sotto leave diners to focus on the honest food complemented by an all-Italian, awarding-winning wine list.

Food and service are absolutely 5 stars. We had 5 dishes at our table (two of us), and each dish was amazing. My main dish was the veal parmigiana, and when I tell you it was huge, it was HUGE! I only got through about 1/3 of it and had to take the rest home. Scallops were also a show stopper as well. The drink selections are great - particularly the signature drinks. Service - fantastic. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, engaging, and transparent. The only thing that stops me from giving this 5 stars was that it was really tight in there. I'm sure on a night when it's not busy the ambiance is amazing. But it was quite busy on a Saturday night and our table was really close to a neighboring table and it was quite loud. Didn't bother us much - but can't give it 5 stars as I could see how this could be annoying if it happened regularly. But it's well worth the "snugness" to check out Sotto Sotto.

Great place!! Been there a long time and never fails. Great food and atmosphere. Ricardo is a great restaurateur!!

The flavor of the food was good and it is apparent that the recipes are well thought out. The issue I encountered was most of the food arrived at slightly above room temperature. The exception was they made a mistake on my friend's order. The plate of correct food came out with steam and was the only food that arrived hot.

Absolutely loved everything about this place. Our waiter provided excellent service and the food was outstanding. The menu is diverse and perfect for a late night hankering . We ended the meal with the flourless chocolate cake and it was one of the tastiest desserts I had had in a long time. I will definitely be back!

Delicious Italian restaurant, great location, nice vibe. My wife and I were here with two kids and loved it. I would recommend this place to anyone.
