Friendly and happy people who seem to truly enjoy their job. Remember that this is the South Carolina aquarium, so you will not see some of the more exotic species that you may see at larger aquariums. With the exception of traveling exhibits, everything in the aquarium can be found in the state's waters. That means no whale sharks, sea snakes, or crazy amazonian fish, but does an excellent job of educating on the different ecosystems found throughout the state.

Overall great experience. It's a little small for the price, but they had a lot of rescued animals which I appreciated. The river otters were a favorite as well as the giant ocean tank. You can also "pet" some stingrays in The Shallows area. Staff was very nice and helpful. You can see wild dolphins off of their pier if you catch them at the right time.

If you aren't from here, this is a great way to see things you haven't seen before right up close. They also have a bunch of awesome Lego builds set up near relevant exhibits, which is really creative and doubles the fun for kids. If you're an adult, there isn't much to do here, but the door price is about right. You'll find yourself walking through everything once, but it's definitely nice. You can in fact see dolphins on the outside walk, have some patience and check them out. Other than that it's a good place for your kids, and you'll be entertained, but it's really just a one-time-visit kinda place unless you really dig aquatic animals.

We really lucked out with the experience we had here. We were delighted to participate in s behind the scenes tour of the facilities, allowed to see the top of the ocean tank, the kitchen where they prepare the food for the animals, and watch the divers actually go into the water! They had several educational "shows" including interactive animals such as snakes that we could touch. The feeding times are a blast, while the touch tanks are a load of fun! The volunteers and staff were absolutely awesome, and ensured we had a fantastic time visiting the aquarium. We even saw dolphins off the coast at the end! Amazing.

This is fun for the kids, but as far as aquariums go, this one is ok. High points: Nice view of the bridge and the bay, which is good for photos. They also have a cool stingray tank outside, and inside they have some cool Lego displays. The large tank with the diver is also cool. But I don't feel like they offer a large variety of displays.
