We went to South City Kitchen Buckhead for lunch on the second day of our trip and I'm so glad we did. We got there towards the end of the lunchtime rush so the restaurant wasn't too packed and we didn't have to wait for a table, which is always nice. For our appetizer, we ordered the crispy oysters which were so freaking good! I could have had three more plates of that and left more than satisfied. For our mains, we both ended up getting the shrimp and grits and it was everything that you want shrimp and grits to be: warm, creamy, the perfect amount of heat, and the flavour was just out of this world. It was truly southern comfort in a bowl. They also give you a basket of biscuits and cornbread which were delicious too; buttery and rich, and not dry at all. I used my cornbread to sop up the shrimp and grits - perfection. We ended our meal with cappuccinos and agreed that we'd definitely be coming back before our trip was over and we did! On our last day, before heading to the airport, we stopped by for lunch again. The restaurant was much busier this day, so we sat at the bar which has full menu service. My husband got the fried chicken which comes with collard greens and mashed potatoes and I got the shrimp and grits again. He said the fried chicken was really good, and of course the shrimp and grits was incredible yet again. My husband really wanted to try the banana pudding for dessert but the kitchen had just closed. But our server, Al, was so kind and ended up bringing us two of the mini banana puddings that they usually give out for birthdays. Such a thoughtful - and delicious! - gesture. Everything from the staff, atmosphere, location, and of course the food was perfect. We will definitely be coming back on our next trip to ATL!
The best spot for lunch; bustling with energy, and despite the crowd, the staff welcomed me with warm smiles. The food was beyond the ordinary. I enjoyed every bite. It’s a place where the food, service, and ambiance come together to create a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their menu.
This place makes the best of all the Southern staples. The start with a basket of biscuits and corn muffins and let me tell you, it would be all too easy to fill up with them. They are downright delicious. For appetizers we had the she-crab soup, fried oysters, fried green tomatoes and the scallops. The soup was a little lacking in flavor and was quite ordinary. The oysters and fried green tomatoes was incredible. The green tomatoes were stuffed with goat cheese and it was such a nice surprise. The oysters were a touch spicy but we all love spicy and the bed of salad they sat on was a great compliment. For entrees, we ordered the trout, strip steak, and pork chop. We also ordered extra sides of pirloo and succotash. Everyone who has the trout scarfed it down and could not stop raving about it. The pork chop was good and came with asparagus. The asparagus was perfectly seasoned but slightly overcooked. For me, the real star was the pirloo, it tasted almost like gumbo only missing some shrimp and crab! It was spicy and flavorful and filling. Overall, the entire meal ridiculously delicious and I can’t wait to go back and try more.
I recently visited South City with my girlfriends and had a fantastic experience! The fried okra was a standout dish, perfectly crispy and flavorful. The atmosphere was delightful, creating a cozy yet lively vibe for our brunch date. The service was also excellent, with attentive staff making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, it was a delightful brunch outing that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal with friends!
super delicious food & wonderfully kind, friendly service shout out to Maya!. the fried green tomatoes were to die for & the beef cheek was soooo melt-in-your-mouth tender. the banana pudding was exquisite, and you can see bits of vanilla bean in it. valet was right next to the restaurant for $2. this place totally exceeded my expectations, and we’ll be back!!! Parking: valet for $2
I had the pleasure of having brunch here with family. I’d never heard of them before and wanted to try them out. The food was good. I kept it basic with the cheeks and waffle entree. I did add pecans to the waffle. It was delicious. For my drink I chose the “COUNTRY THYME LEMONADE” which consisted of vodka human’s lemon soda. It was decent but I felt like the tryme should have been more present. The service was good. Our waiter was pleasant and patient as my sister thought wished was going to drive him crazy with her quirks I cut that sh@$ short when asked about the menu he was very knowledgeable. Over all I will say it’s a nice experience and of yeah they offer valet parking
Kayla was exceptional! She served us with grace, making our entire experience delightful. The valet service was convenient at just two dollars, and the short walk to the exquisite hotel leading to the restaurant added to the charm. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by a smiling staff, who promptly seated us at our reserved table for Valentine's Day within 30 seconds. The culinary journey was extraordinary; from the crispy fried tomato to the succulent fried chicken with potatoes, the flavorful okra, and the delectable mussels, each dish was a delight. The champagne complemented the meal perfectly, and the cornbread, complete with real corn kernels, was a pleasant surprise. Every bite was savored, and I truly relished the entire experience.
Great location in Buckhead. I went on a Sunday after church and it was crowded. My server was friendly and took great care of me. I ordered the chicken and waffles and something wasn't right with my waffle. It didn't taste good at all, I thought the syrup and butter would help but it didn't. It had a sour taste, I'm not sure if they added buttermilk to it or what but I'll never order that again. The chicken had a good flavor but was a little overcooked. I would come back just to try dinner and hopefully, the food will be a little better.
Service was outstanding from the moment we walked . Koko was our server. She was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the menu. My wife and I had and amazing dinner . She have the southern fried chicken . It's was moist cristy and very flavorful. Greens was ok . I got the pork chops cooked to perfection. The sides we ok . I would them to add a little more to their menu. 5 stars for me !!!!
