The Mission of the South Georgia Regional Library system is to enrich the lives of our diverse community members by providing equal access to a wealth of information.
The South Georgia Regional Library System (SGRL) serves over 130,000 residents with six libraries in Lowndes, Echols, and Lanier Counties. SGRL boasts a collection of over 200,000 books and media and provides internet services, programming for children, adults, and teens as well as special annual events. The main branch on the South Georgia Regional Library System, the Valdosta-Lowndes County Library also supplies a Talking Books Center for the visually impaired and a Bookvan outreach service for area schools, retirement homes, and elderly patrons.
Other principle services that each branch of the South Georgia Library System provide include, but are not limited to: Low-cost faxing, copying, printing, tax documents and information, genealogy, area newspaper archives, notary public, resume and job search assistance, Adult enrichment courses (English as a second language, Spanish, computer classes for beginners, G.E.D. preparation, etc.).
