We hired them after getting a recommendation from a friend. Unfortunately I think their teams are hit or miss. We have moved several times recently and this ended up being our worst experience. We received an in person estimate and the actual cost ended up costing almost twice as much. It also took them twice as long as expected partially due to the weather but also they seemed to slow down a lot in the afternoon. We had several items damaged to the point of not being able to be repaired including furniture and small appliances (we aren’t talking about dings/ scratches). Maybe we just got lucky in the past but we had never had stuff broken like this before. The movers cited the brand of our furniture as their excuse for breaking it. Also, there were dirty shoe prints on some of our furniture which had clearly been used as a step stool/ ladder. The guys they sent were very nice and courteous and they seemed to know what they were doing.  Not saying I wouldn’t recommend them just be aware of these things going into it.

My family shipped some items to us from Arizona to Pittsburgh and South Hill Movers was responsible for the final delivery. I received a phone call on Thursday from Joan Sherbak from South Hill Movers who informed me that the delivery would happen the next day at 11:30am. My wife and I both work, and at the time we didn't think we would be able to take the day off at such short notice. According to Joan though, no other delivery options were available at the time. Later that same morning I found out that I could probably be home in time for the delivery and attempted to reach Joan without success. Joan and I played phone tag later that afternoon, and I was finally able to talk with her again Friday morning. At that point point it was understandably too late to add us back into the schedule for Friday. 

I told Joan that, given their lack of flexibility, I was a little disappointed that we weren't notified earlier of the delivery date and time so that we would have a chance to arrange to be home. Joan was completely unapologetic and told me that they can't call us until they have received our items ... but according to Joan they received our items on Monday, so they could have called us several days earlier. This was apparently lost on Joan. I responded that in that case I would then appreciate several delivery options from which to choose especially because we are paying them to deliver our package. Joan told me "you aren't paying me ... and it's a small package anyway".

So I'm not sure who is paying Joan if my family isn't, but if they read this, they need to seriously reconsider ever working with Joan and South Hill Movers again. I got off the phone with Joan feeling like she didn't care at all whether I received the shipment or not. I was so frustrated with the phone call that I immediately called South Hill Movers' HR department. They were at least friendly. 

My wife and I have moved a lot with work although we've only been in Pittsburgh for a short time. I'm sure there are others at South Hill Movers who are professional and reasonable, but why take a chance? Other cities have plenty of local movers who won't jerk you around. I'm sure Pittsburgh does too. I know I will be looking elsewhere next time.

I would recommend these guys to anyone looking to move.  The move out crew of Darryl, Steve, Sean & Jacque were just incredible.  Very considerate of your belongings, polite and professional.  Kelly was so organized and on top of things.  The move in crew of Cody & Gary again were so courteous and professional. Last but not least was Lexi Brown, professional and organized.  Thanks for making the move a pleasant experience.

Total disregard for safety. They parked their massive 18 wheeler on a blind hill-entrance to our subdivision. Several people ask them to move and finally the police department and corporate had to get involved. The lead mover lied and said it would only be a few minutes at that park location, four hours later…

Great crew moved our son. Friendly non-stop workers. Final cost came in well below estimate. Excellent experience.
