I love visiting the Sugarloaf observation tower. The views of the valley are absolutely beautiful. You have the choice of driving up to the top during the warmer months or hiking up any time of year. I definitely prefer hiking up. The tower itself can be seen from quite a distance in the valley. Very easy to find even without GPS. There is plenty of parking at the bace and at the top. If you have never been here, definitely take some time to stop and check it out.

What a phenomenal little spot to find. This is one of those gems you find in Western Mass if you can take the time to go out adventuring. Someday I'm going to hike to the top, but on my previous visits, I've driven to the parking lot near the summit. This is a great place to have the picnic, and enjoy an incredible view for very little effort. It's also fun to explore the observation tower, especially if you have energetic kids with you.

Gorgeous views out over the Pioneer Valley. The observation tower itself is not handicap accessible, and the uppermost viewing platform is only reachable by a steep spiral stair. However, the views from the base of the tower are almost as good. There is an adjacent picnic area. Red-tailed hawks nest nearby and can sometimes be seen catching the updraft off the cliff face.

Amazing sunsets and moonrises. Direct trails to the top in 15 minutes, or park at the north end and take a few mile stroll. Nice westerly views, with sunsets, from the north mountain too.
